Rufford Abbey - Added to Historic Buildings in East Midlands

I have just added this to the map of places to fly your drone at Drone Scene:

Land owner permission requirements unknown.

You can have a little walk around the abbey and the lake.

The originator declared that this location was not inside a Flight Restriction Zone at the time of being flown on 15/11/2023. It remains the responsibility of any pilot to check for any changes before flying at the same location.

I’ve often thought about going there with my M3P, but I always assumed they would have the same drone rules as NT.

it’s only a 20 minute short drive from mine, so may pop up over the festive fortnight.

Thank you for sharing

yea i went during the day school time, and took off near the trees and noone uttered a word  so just be weary if you do!

Love rufford, we go there regular.
I had some top down footage of the d**k heads going through the ford but it was stored om an external h.d that went belly up :disappointed:

Its a pity the youtube goons got the ford closed for the more sensible-ish drivers

yea i have a video of people going through the ford on my YT channel haha! but there were 2 bigger YT that kinda spoilt it

The grounds (and the lake, play area, cafes, maze, gardens, maze etc) are owned by Nottinghamshire County Council, so the only restrictions really are the ‘not fly over crowds’ ones. Also obviously be mindful of people’s privacy because it can get busy (especially around the play area).

The Abbey ruins themselves are English Heritage - and has lots of ‘No Drones’ signs around it. There are no CAA restrictions so just don’t take off from EH’s bit of land round the ruins to avoid hassle.
