Scotland's Chernobyl?

Just been scanning news headlines on the Beeb and this one jumped out:

A quick search here shows nobody has posted any imagery or video from it. But someone please tell me you’ve captured this before it disappears forever?

Was born and lived not too far down the road in Langbank - the last time I was in this area I didn’t want to hang around too long as it didn’t feel safe at all - there were still a load of people living here - mainly drug users

Them photos in the beeb article are quite something and yeah I would love to capture some images from the air - sadly I now live in the Midlands of England so not local :frowning:

Hope someone will fly here and document this before its all gone and share with us.

Thanks for the links, and a new one to me. I was aware of The Kelpies, but not heard of the Skelpies before. May just have to re-visit my aunt who lives in West of Tomdoun and stop off on teh way to see the Skelpies.

I hear that about not feeling safe though.

There is quite a bit to see around that area - across the road from all this is the ship yards so loads to see - cool buildings and the little castle next to Ferguson’s ship builders is quite nice to visit - also along from there is the ship wreck of a sugar boat that you can see from the banks and you should be able to fly out to it too without too much issues. Also keep an eye out for subs and other cool boats in the Clyde.

Man I feel the urge to take a trip back home again now - its been years !

I haven’t been since 2015 and concentrated mostly on the coastal landscapes and port area near to the musuem and Glasgow Tower.

Also, pre-drone days for me.

I did a job on there in (think) 2009. Half to two thirds of the house/flats had steel plates over the windows and doors, although people were still living in there, 'spose it was cheaper than putting curtains or blinds up, just let the council do it for you!

@Hotrodspike John,
Metal blinds = oxy acetylene
Metal blinds = Plasma cutter
Concrete structure :thinking::light_bulb:= thermic lance :laughing:

If the council had even fitted the padlock to the door panels (which they hadn’t) you’d only need to saw through the lock. They’d even left the normal door locks and handles on the doors, just cut the steel panel to fit around them!

I wish I’d known about Scotland’s Chernobyl when I was in Glasgow a few months Ago, this is Chernobyl before the war
