Hi all,
I was doing some filming last night and I reviewed it on my phone this morning via an sd card reader.
I’ve gone to download the video etc on to my laptop and there’s nothing there, everything has gone . Even the sd card is unrecognisable.
Any advice? Thanks
Windows or Mac?
Where are you based, James?
I have some professional grade data recovery software that will 90% get it back for you. Unfortunately it is locked to a laptop, and requires some specialist knowledge to use it. This is not a shill attempt, as I am happy to do some data recovery for a group member, free gratis.
My advice, for what it is worth:
Don’t rush into doing anything with the SD card. Stick it in a tin, label it, put it to one side.
Try and work out the steps that got you a corrupted card. Get a second SD card, format it, take some footage and photos using your drone. Repeat the process as best you can to review the data, then copy it to the laptop/computer.
You are looking to see if this will also crash the 2nd SD card.
If it does, great - you have a test card to try any data recovery on, and a process to stay away from.
Be careful of any free data recovery software. You usually have to pay to get it to do anything useful.
Also what type of phone (IPhone or Android) will also assist with advice.
Mac
Hi, thanks for your help. I’m based in Lancashire iPhone
Hi, I’m based in Lancashire
Have you tried a reader or different adapter?
Also is it still readable on the iPhone?
Not readable on the phone or even wireless
Have you got access to a PC you can try it on?
What make SD is it?
Hi James
That’s a shame - if you were in Somerset or south Gloucestershire, we could have met and cloned the SD card before doing the data recovery.
Just my MacBook, it’s a Samsung from the Dronesafe store
That’s a shame, thanks anyway
This software has recovered stuff I never thought would be possible. It’s free so worth a try. Follow the instructions carefully. On the same site there is also a product for photos, give both a try.
DO NOT play about with the SD card anymore, at least do not write any files to it.
It has recovered stuff I wasn’t able to get hold of through paid software, I also remember some of the other members on here using it with success.
Thanks, is it safe and legit?
Yes Bee, it is legit. I wouldn’t have posted in here otherwise. I have been using it for quite a while now. If you’re worried at all, just do a little googling on it and the guy who owbs the site/writes the software.
Thanks
Had this happen to me a number of months ago with Sandisk Extreme Pro. Everything fine and dandy, then 2 weeks later everything lost. Following various attempts to recover, everything pointed to user error - user saw a good deal on 2 cards from Amazon, turns out they were faker than Katie Price’s t*ts!!
Amazon are usually pretty good, as long as its ‘sold by amazon’ and not some 3rd party dodgy vape shop ‘fulfilled by Amazon’
I had this a while ago butvfound that by putting the card back in the drone everything was viewable via the Fly app. I managed to upload my tablet and got it all back. The card still wouldnt read on the pc so just dumped it.
