Second time out with the new Avata

As the title says… being careful not to hit the Mrs’ car on takeoff :innocent:

Any issue with icing ?

Only my bloody fingers, I didn’t notice any on the drone when it landed - OAT was -3° and cloud base was ~80 m here today.

Having said that, flying at full tilt I was getting about 8 mins battery life today so maybe there wasn’t time for any noticeable build up.

Yup, that was me yesterday. I had intended to use two or three battery packs, but stopped after one as my fingers were frozen

I need to get one of those!

I’d been pondering one for a while but the only thing putting me off was my suspicion that a new model may be due out soonish, however they are on sale now at ~£860 for the pro view version which was good enough for me to pull the trigger. I’m glad I did, they really are good fun, enough so that I’ll probably get the new one as well if/when they come out - but these are perfect to start off with.

Are they easy enough to fly compared to a camera drone?

Sure they’re easy enough, I’m a drone noob and managed OK. The motion 2 controller version that I have is different to the remote controller one for sure, but it’s very intuitive to use and a really fun way to fly - I’ll probably get the remote controller for it as well when I’ve had enough practice so I’ll be able to access “Manual” mode which I gather is what separates the men from the boys so to speak!

Well, without wishing to cause offence if I’m wrong but I assumed that “Grey Arrows” was a parody for “Red Arrows” - maybe you can see why I chose my username

I feel like I’ve taken my first step into a larger world…

There’s defiantly something about how the Avata looks though, he just looks born to misbehave - I like that
