So excited to have done my first flight with a Mavic Mini. It was an amazing experience.
Lovely video and thanks for sharing your fantastic first flight , the only thing I would say is be careful of the water , there has been some horror stories on here about what happens flying over it but no idea if that applies to all drones but worth reading up on or seeking advise from those on here with more experience, that said really great video. Keep having fun.
@scottydog Thanks mate for your feedback. To be honest with you I was a bit worried to give a try on the water but as my first flight I wanted some very quiet place to try it and this it was a good spot to do that. Now looking for some other place in countryside. Hope to find a good one. Still a bit confused about all the drones rules in here
Great shooting @giuseppe90 really captured the beauty of that place well.
What a great spot to fly, full sunset would be amazing if you could capture that there.
Thanks @McSteamy2010 for your comment, much appreciated. Yes I know I could wait a bit longer for a full sunset but I didn’t have enough time that day. Will do for sure next time v:
Will keep an eye out for part 2 in the future. Good work ![]()
Well I wish my first video had been that good, some great cuts in time with the music, loved the one where the cut disappeared into the sea.
As far as flying over the water, I wouldn’t worry too much but be a bit more careful with low level flying as it can confuse the sensors, although when I tried it I didn’t have any problems. I have insurance that covers me for flying over water so at least I would get some money back if there was a problem, I am flying an M2P which is about 3 times the price of the Mini so worth having the insurance.
Keep up the great work and look forward to the next one.
Nice comment @SkyJumper so glad you enjoyed my first video and thanks for your advice. Any recommendations for my next spot? Not sure where you coming from but you may know some nice spot in Surrey or surrounding.
Cheers buddy
@giuseppe90
I’m in Bournemouth so along the coast from Selsey, I haven’t been flying in Surrey but there must be some nice spots along the North Downs, neeed to be careful not to fly from National Trust land, they can’t stop you flying over it but they can stop you taking off and landing on it.
Have a look on the places to fly map, you may find some spots where other members have flown from.
Nice one @SkyJumper I’ll have a look on the map to find something interesting.
It’s not a rule or anything like that and your video was fantastic but I’ve read a couple of posts on here where when flying low over water the drone just goes down but I’m not sure if the mini has that problem as I’m pretty sure they where a 2 pro and a air but worth finding out as it must be heart breaking to watch your drone just land and sink , others on here will know far better than me as I’m new as well but would hate to see anyone loose their drone . Great video either way .
@scottydog Thanks for your advice. I try to check around if the mini as this problem too but I didn’t find anything. Anyway better don’t take a risk. Next time I’ll fly on the sea, I’ll definitely fly higher. Don’t want lose my baby
I would until it’s clear if the mini has the same problem, look in Drone discussions section and have a read of Bad flying morning , the poor guy had his 2 pro auto land and sink , seem to remember if you stay above it by 2 or 3 metres it’s ok but mini might not suffer from the same effect . Keep having fun
