Shaftoe Crags - Added to Iconic Landscapes and Ancient Sites in North East

I have just added this to the map of places to fly your drone at Drone Scene:

Land owner permission requirements unknown.

Shaftoe Crags is a great place to view stunning landscapes in all direction. The crags are on Access Land, which is bounded and crossed by public footpaths and a bridleway. Check OS Maps for details of paths, access land extents, and elevations.
Shaftoe Crags is popular with climbers, hikers, dog-walkers, trig point baggers etc., so choose a quiet time to visit.
There is free parking for a few cars at W3W: ///supplier.oiled.imprinted
There is a circular walk from the car park: Follow the bridleway to the west, keeping the edge of the field on your right. When you reach the gate you are just about at the boundary of the Access Land.
Go through the gate and follow the path. Note this can be a wet and muddy walk from the car park, wear appropriate footwear.
Turn left at W3W: ///simulates.computer.roses and you will find Shaftoe Grange on your right – this is private property and lies outside of the Access Land boundary.
This path is also on the boundary of Access Land.
There is a trig point at W3W: ///firms.shipyards.eyelash
Follow the public footpaths round to return to the car park.
Depending on your appetite for TOAL from public footpaths on Access Land, you can TOAL from outside the boundary, subject to VLOS limitations. Again, use OS maps to assess access land boundaries, and elevation from TOAL point to trig point. There are plenty of good TOAL places along the trail, just choose one that suits your needs, you may need to fly from a couple of different locations.
As ever, be considerate of wildlife/ livestock, and the landowner who allows parking.

The originator declared that this location was not inside a Flight Restriction Zone at the time of being flown on 03/01/2024. It remains the responsibility of any pilot to check for any changes before flying at the same location.
