Ships again! HMS Albion leaving Plymouth

HMS Albion leaving Plymouth today. (Mavic3 in x7 mode)
I am always impressed to see what the Royal Marines get up to when they undertake training in my area.
How they don’t injure or kill themselves I will never know. It takes a special kind of person do do what they do for sure.
Not quite as extreme as the SAS or SBS when they come out to play but almost.

I miss living in Devonport, we do visit friends when we can.
Looking at Albion around 1.30 she looks like a patchwork quilt, all those dead chiefs will be turning in their graves looking at the state of the RN’s ships nowadays, I was watching the program re HMS Queen Elizabeth and was shocked at how bad her paint job was.
Reduced the ships company to a skeletal crew, and now not enough chippers and painters to keep the fleet ship shape and Bristol in fashion, shame to think we were once the envy of the world.

Great video’s keep em coming thanks

I agree she is looking a tad shabby but has not long come back from a long deployment abroad.
Some ships we see up and down the river look brand new but others are definitely in need of some TLC.
Let me know if you get bored of ‘ship’ videos.

Are you flying on the edge of the NFZ down there?

Just wondering if some pilots get a lot closer than they should with drones?

And ?

Probably asked in the wrong way :joy:

What I meant was was it flown further back to avoid any issues as to being too close.

There’s no FRZ in Plymouth. There are no aiports.

Yes I’m right on the edge of a NFZ and it would be very unwise to fly too close to it or any warship that’s going by.
I do see videos of drone being flown close to and over vessels that makes my blood boil.

The x7 zoom on the M3 actually forces me to fly much further away from the NFZ and out over open countryside just to get the shot.

My TOAL point is at Cremyll and DJI advise me every time that I am close to the NFZ.

There’s an MOD armament depo just North of this red area that’s surprisingly only in yellow that ‘may raise security, privacy or safety concerns’ Surely where all sorts of munitions are stored and moved onto ships should be a big fat no no to fly near and definitely a red zone!

Actually there is an airport - although currently closed.

Apologise for the incorrect term - I have an illness and as a result often write the wrong words - I do a lot of editing of my posts usually before they are made.

Thanks. I am sometimes in Plymouth but never really flown there.

I see Plymouth airport closed in 2011 and only the last few years was cleared as a NFZ.
We always joked about the very short street lamps at the end of the runway. My reasoning was that they had recently been planted and still had some growing to do. LOL

Love the amazing mid-ground / far-ground parallax in the opening seconds that the zoom accentuates. :+1:

There’s a Facebook group specifically for Ganges graduates to constantly drip about the amount of rust on modern warships. Because there are no other problems in the world today…

I’m not ex RN, so wouldn’t interest me, but yes there are more important issues, but alas our warships sailing the 7 seas say a lot about us, that was my point

I am, and it doesn’t interest me.
