Skomer for the puffins, happy with this sign
Looks like a slow cooker or maybe a BBQ
I like it
a flying bbq dropping of well done chunks of meat - perfect
Why do they put it in Gaelic at the bottom ? Is this just incase the less than 1% of the Scottish population that read and speak Gaelic can understand it ?
It’s because the puffins only speak Gaelic, obviously …
But, actually, it’s Welsh.
Quite simply… Gaelic Language (Scotland) Act 2005. Wales has a similar Act re signage. But @OzoneVibe is correct , It’s Wales but the rules are the same for either Scotland or Wales.
Ahh , see foreign languages was never my strong point
In Wales the latest population report shows that 29.5% of people can speak Welsh.
And 75% of those only know allan, araf, ambwlans, heddlu and pobol y cwm…
If you include those there would be more than 50%; 29.5% is the figure that use it as a day-to-day language fluently. The younger the population sample the higher the %age.
Most people fly from Wooltack Point to Skomer - its only 1km or so.
Not that they should. But they do. It happens daily.
Interesting !
