We spent last week on Skye, but this time the weather Gods seemed to be against us for most of the week, I got one flight in on the way up, and we had 2 half days of great weather, 2 half days of reasonable weather and the rest of the time it was 35-45mph winds and rain!
However, although it limited my flying when we did get out it meant we had to make it count, and a return to the Fairy Pools - this time with the AVATA - provided both a great place to fly and some great footage…
Lots of low and close passes, and some swimmers to watch out for too - all of whom were asked and gave permission for me to overly…
Anyhows, enjoy…

Cool, it was my second droning visit, the former one was with the AIR3, so more cinematic…

Superb flying, liked the cheeky wave from a swimmer, you did well to avoid the people, was that all on the Avata. Did you experience any interference with control flying around the rocks and water?

Thank Adrien, I laughed out loud when I got the cheeky waves from folks, it made it more special for me… No interference with controls, all on the AVATA1, , I turned around when the signal dropped to 2 bars, and I didn’t want to push it…

Way to go, I suffered interference problems flying around slate quarries so was curious if flying low around the rocks and water would suffer the same way. Avata 1 gives some very nice quality footage

Water and rocks can be problematic, water especially, as it can confuse the sensors, but who dares wins as the old adage goes…

Hi Suzanne, by total coincidence, we were up on Skye the same week, primarily to visit some friends but had hoped to get the drone up. Unfortunately, as you say the weather was atrocious and I only managed to get one flight up at Quiraing. Haven’t had a chance to look at it yet but I don’t think there is a lot there, will probably edit it at some point.
We were hampered as they were using a helicopter to fly in material to repair the paths but we waited until we were far out of range before flying.
We were staying close to the Fairy Pools and did visit one day but it was too windy and rainy to do much. I do have some footage from years ago taken with a camcorder.
Incidentally, we discovered that there have been at least 3 deaths at the Pools over the last few years, which inspired us to contemplate a story called - The Curse of The Fairy Pools!
Anyway, you look like you got a half decent day for your flight and the results are really good, as usual, great stuff.

Thanks Geoff, it was a shame we had poor weather for most of the week, but it is what it is… I managed to fly 11 locations in total, some in questionable conditions, but it gives me some footage to play with for the next few weeks… The trouble is I was hoping for 25 locations, so I shall be finished editing by the end of the month if not a lot sooner, whereas last year it took me until the end of August to edit it all…
If we had known you were there we could have had an impromptu meet up!
Another great video, you always seem to pick real good background music that brings out the atmosphere of the scene.

Thanks Rod… Music drives the editing, so its crucial to find something that works for the footage and for what you want to do…
Fantastic flying @AlbionDrones

Thanks Mark…it was a fun place to fly, but threatening rain and a long walk back up the hill meant I only flew 1 battery… As it was we arrived back at the car just as the heavens opened, another minute and we would have been drenched…

I agree, I am pretty useless with music so I shouldn’t really say it but a lot of people have great videos but the music just doesn’t suit the footage, but IMO all of yours work well, so it helps me learn.

Thanks… I use a few free sites, YT itself, plus Pixabay, Chosic, and a few other obscure ones… I have also started making my own AI-generated music at Suno, you just put in the prompt of what you want and it gives you 2 choices, some is good, some is not…
I also keep a library of suitable music, so when I start editing it is there that I look before going online…
