@BigDog Once you’re connected you need to click ‘Read Setup’ .
BLheli is just for your ESC’s so it won’t be affecting your goggles mate
Usually, the only things you want to change from factory default are…
Motor direction
Beacon delay time
Beacon level
JB did a good lesson on this, I’ll do it out for you
Oh ok still need to work on that 1 but need to get the props sorted… To be honest I could just swop 2 of the motor wires round couldn’t I?? Save me a whole world of pain
You could, but you don’t learn
To be honest with you it’s way easier to change the direction of the motors in BLheli than desoldering and resoldering motor wires. Just make sure that the correct motor is spinning before you change the direction. Check that the motors correspond to the diagram in Betaflight. Watch the really good Bardwell video that @Steviegeek has dug out for you and get stuck in
I’m going to have to do this, too. When I get around to replacing the duff motor on the Darwin I want to reverse the prop direction, so that’ll be the driver for finally getting into BLHeli.
Edit: Hmm. Thinking about it, if I’m going to do a proper job of it I’ll have to swap all the motors around because half of them have left-hand threads. Ugh!
Hey Jez in your case, if you’re reversing all motors you can do that in Betaflight. There is a switch that changes all prop directions at once. Also with regard to motor threads, most new motors now have one thread direction only so as long as you use decent nylock nuts to secure the props everything should be fine mate (all my motors have the same thread on them too)
I tried that with my Croc and it seemed to do nothing.
I couldn’t get a single replacement motor so I ended up with a set (2 x CW, 2 x CCW). I was aware that all the motors on the Nazgul are normal threads, so I was suspecting using left-hand threads was a case of over-engineering. I’ll probably just replace like with like and I’m sure it will be just fine with the props reversed.
Hi, I don’t think it does. It only tells the software you are using reversed props mode.
You still have to manually set the prop directions as you normally would
@notveryprettyboy can confirm this
This is correct
Thanks Steve I thought it changed the direction as well at the same time. Has it always been like that? I thought that’s how I changed to props out on my original quad? I may well be imagining things lol
Sorry for giving you the wrong info Jez @Earwig , it looks like you will have to familiarise yourself with BL Heli after all. Although it’s not too difficult to use. I’m sure you’ll pick it up quickly
I believe it has, but I’m not a big BF user so others may know more
There’s loads of YT vids on this subject, they’ll explain it much better than I can in chat
BL Heli Configurator is somewhat easier to use. The UI is more like Betaflight.
It doesn’t allow you to do as much, but switching motor directions is more obvious.
Oh and I was watching JB’s video about BF 4.3… that allows you to properly configure BF to understand about reversing motors… finally.
No need to use BLHeli at all!
But no -32 support
fair enough
but as you rightly say, it’s in BF4.3 now so maybe this is the way to go
I downloaded the configurator which looks nice but as @Steviegeek said it didn’t work with my BLHELI_32
