Took our new AVATA Pro View out for the first flight yesterday, totally loved it! What a cool bit of kit, fun and fast, lots of ground rush and tried sports mode and head tracking, not too bad for my first AFPV drone
Fles at a local playing fields which is known for RC flying, met with a few friends and had a lot of fun…
Great first flight with the Avata but I’m afraid you’re doomed to become totally immersed in the hobby of FPV which results in a life of poverty but full of enjoyment -
Yeah, isn’t that drones in general though? I have to admit it, I am hooked, although I don’t think it will take over the cinematography, but nothing says I can’t do both
Hi Darren, it is simple to use, and does the job, not quite used to it yet, but as you can see on the video even a newcomer to FPV can get reasonable control quite quickly, however the lack of Manual Mode means longer term I will be looking at getting an FPV Controller - and possibly an FPV drone to go with it - perhaps 2nd hand sometime next year, which will allow us both to fly together when we have someone else with us as a spotter…
Thanks Mark, tbh I think the AVATA and FPV sit well together, the FPV for more open areas - mountains n gorges - and the AVATA for really tight spaces, or that is how I could see me using an FPV as well as an AVATA…
The maximum speed on the FPV is double the Avata for each mode so Normal for Avata is 15mph for FPV its 30mph, Sport 30mph Avata, 60mph FPV. A lot of that is the difference in prop size, Avata is 3inch, FPV 5 inch (obviously more weight on the FPV though.)
I’ve not tried the Motion Controller 2, just the first version. The exta possible axis it can move with the V2 makes the difference between it and the Remote Controller 2 not as far but flying FPV with sticks is still king to me.
I wish DJI expanded the motion controller to use with the O3 air unit… that would open up a lot of things and be the only joy stick controller on the market I believe for RC… (or at least i’ve not seen one).
sure you don’t get all the buttons and controls, but some of them could be combined into similar button dual purpose functions that the motion controller already offers.
the only function that would not transfer directly would be yaw I believe
but it would probably work well for an fpv flying wing
I put my Avata into manual mode for the first time the other day and I am glad to say I walked away without any damage - just a lot of grass to clean out of every little bit of the frame haha - it’s quite easy to take to bits - it falls and bounces well too haha
So if your worried about crashing - don’t be - they are solid.
I do know what I did wrong for most of my crashes - this one was quite simple - the pilot stepped out of the cockpit ( I lifted my goggles up and didn’t quite see what the drone was doing in the sky before it bounced then over corrected a few more times after )
