The only downside of now using ELRS, is that it can go so far I lost spacial awareness and could not hear the drone and had to circle for a bit. Another excuse to go digital and get a GPS enabled FPV drone.
Looks like a nice place to fly, I’ve been looking for nice places near me to fly, a plain field just is not that interesting anymore. Found a park with some nice trees so will be good for a while now.
I lost my way to where we were at the Meetup, had to get my bearing to find us again… ELRS will go further then your video signal which feels like the right way round to me.
I have fortunately not had to remove my drone from a tree yet, I’m sure its a matter of time though…
Recently lost mine twice in the grass at the new park. When I did find it the VTX was somewhere around the temperature of the sun… (i’m sure it shutdown from thermal overload so is fine now, my fault for not setting the beeper… oops )
I cant tell you how many times my quad either faceplanted this tree or ricocheted off and up into the branches while trying to Knife-edge this gap
This place in this video is at Knockholt which is only around 30min drive from Bexley. Its a popular fpv spot and there are normally people up there flying every weekend when the weathers good
That was last summer and I made it through the gap about 5 or 6 times relatively cleanly. The rest of my time there was fly, crash repeat. Must of tried it around 50-60 times. Even though I was a short distance from the tree I put in alot of steps that day mate
Its an old abandoned golf course. Id be happy to meet you up there sometime if youre interested? I know Brendan @bmsleight wanted to give it a go at somepoint too
Thanks, I was just thinking of heading some place Saturday or early Sunday for a few hours. If there are others there it just makes it a little more fun then flying alone ( i mean with spotter )
