Thank you, did you have to backup your projects and import into Sudio or was it automatic?
Thank you.
Thanks, I’m looking forward to using it !
Jut FYI..the licence rules from Blackmagic actually dictate that it always follows the hardware..simply put if you buy the controller…you get the studio licence moved to you too…you have to contact support…
It means of course the person who sold the hardware will suddenly find their licence will stop working
Strange.
When I spoke to Blackmagic (about six months ago) they said the absolute opposite. There is no obligation to pass on the licence with the hardware.
There is no means of linking the two to enforce this.
Someone buying a second hand Speed Editor on its own gets just that.
From the Speed Editor there is no way for Blackmagic to know the licence number that was included with it. They have no record.
Yes it is strange - I will need to find the comms I had with BM, I was going to buy a 2nd piece of hardware, a Keyboard second hand and didn’t want to pay for a licence to use on a 3rd PC… and BM on the forums and via email said I could buy the hardware, and contact support to activate the licence as the new owner(not sure how without the 20 digit key)…
I see here they maintain the same story: Blackmagic Forum • View topic - Resolve Studio License question when bundled with hardware.
I didn’t buy it in the end, as I didn’t want to pee off the seller
I phoned them because someone that’s been borrowing my Speed Editor likes it enough that he wants to get his own.
He saw one on eBay and sent the seller the “Does the Software key come with it?” .. and got a very definite - “No!” answer.
As it happens he’s bought a new one with the software license .. so didn’t pursue it any further.
Interestingly, anyone with the key can get any other users of it booted off … so that was another issue.
Even if the vendor passed on the key, he can have a copy and could have got my friend booted.
