Spout Force Waterfall, Winlatter - Added to Rivers and Canals in North West

I have just added this to the map of places to fly your drone at Drone Scene:

Land owner permission not required.

1/2 mile walk from the small roadside car park along a moderately difficult - slippery and eroded path, with steps up to the viewing platform - just outside the NT land…
The waterfall is fairly overgrown and hidden, making it a challenge to fly into the area, I would suggest an AVATA or other ducted drone with FPv… Signal strength in the gorge is ok, but satellites are not, mine dropped to 10 and was running on the sensors only, which then gave an issue over the waterfall and shot the drone forwards fast, crashing into the rocks twice before I could stabilise it and bring it back, thankfully undamaged…

The originator declared that this location was not inside a Flight Restriction Zone at the time of being flown on 19/10/2024. It remains the responsibility of any pilot to check for any changes before flying at the same location.

Thank you… I am also very glad it recovered!!

Nicely done, as always. Prefered the second pass and glad you didn’t lose it

Thanks, yeah, first pass was seeing what was there, 2nd pass was getting in low and gnarly, happy with how it worked out, part from the moment of terror when I thought I was going to lose the drone and the footage…

Suzanne, @AlbionDrones I’ve just watched it again in 4K, two comments…

  • Excellent flying, so smooth and graceful as it meanders through the branches and twigs to reach it’s goal
  • Very impressed with the quality from the camera, at 1:02 onwards the detail and clarity in the foliage is first class, maybe we are seeing the benefits of DJI acquiring Hasselblad a few years back.

Very well done

Thanks Stevie, much appreciated… The AVATA1 is an amazing drone, and can do so much more than folks think, I like to explore and fy it as smooth as I can to take folks on a journey, each place I fly seems to demand even more, and thankfully so far my skills have grown accordingly - I am sure the time will arrive when I lose a drone, but hopefully not for a while yet…
