Stanage Edge - Added to Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty in East Midlands

I have just added this to the map of places to fly your drone at Drone Scene:

Land owner permission not required.

Stunning scenery, lots of places to park and access the top, however to note it is a good 400m climb from the bottom car park to the top, although you can fly it from the car park (ringo app if you are cashless, although they do have pay machines too)

The originator declared that this location was not inside a Flight Restriction Zone at the time of being flown on 03/11/2024. It remains the responsibility of any pilot to check for any changes before flying at the same location.

Me too, day dependant

Last time I was there, I was 16 yrs old . Friday afternoons there was a group of us in the Outdoor Pursuits club. Used to go rock climbing, fell walking, sailing etc. 52 yrs ago :joy::joy::joy:

Last time I was there was about 10 years ago in my Range Rover Sport rock-crawling the length of it, great fun but shi**ing myself in case I came unstuck and a farmer charged £hundreds for a rescue

didn’t know you could drive along there (not that my Qashqai would cope).

There’s no road, started reservoir end and just followed the footpath across to the car park

Go on, give it a go, you know you want to. :joy:

I’ll record it with the drone, for prosperity.

Fantastic walks along the Edge and also close by is Burbage. Best mid week as rammed at the weekend with walkers and wannabe rock climbers! Also the Ladybower and Derwent Dam not far away.

Not on a drizzly Sunday in November at 0645 ;o)
