I have has just added this to the UK Map of places to fly your Drone at https://dronescene.co.uk
I’ve flown here too
This monument is in the care of Hysterical Environment Scotland- be discrete - prominent “NO DRONES” sign in carpark
Lots of places to TOAL from without going anywhere near the car park Ian.
Well John, their UAS policy suggests otherwise -
“However, regardless of launch point, no UAS is permitted to fly over our properties without specific consent from HES” …
A pilot launching a UAS from outside HES land, who is not following a safe mode of flight or who is overflying our site, will be asked where possible to land the UAS or navigate it away from our site"
Looks like they intend to police ALL flights near the land they hold for us all ( perhaps or used when and intended) . Hence I suggest discretion.
If I was flying legally and safely, not on their property, and they asked me to land, I know what my answer would be. They don’t control the airspace. If they are going to try and ‘police’ flights then they’ve got a hell of a job on their hands. I was at the castle a few weeks ago and counted three other drones in the air, two of them flying from the layby by the side of Raploch Road ,where I was, which is off of HES property.
Agree, Hence my call for discretion, best launch from a place where one is not visible to those who enforce the policy in order to avoid being asked . At another Hysterical Scotland site the curator made clear to me that sight of a drone would lead to the police being called. I presume that while the flight is legal in CAA terms , the breach of the peace by doing so , when asked not to …
I want to fly here, does anyone have any tips or advice they can share?
Hi @Don1, it looks as though you’re quite new here
Why not nip over to the Introductions page, and say hello properly and tell us a bit about yourself.
