Stokesay Castle with narrated history.
Took advantage of some nice weather recently and visited Stokesay Castle. I must say it was a great looking place from a historical architectural point of view, but was surprised to find it a virtual skeleton, with no furniture, or internal decor to speak of to match its wonderful exterior. I must admit I was quite surprised given the great condition of the medieval buildings.
I also got copped by a very pleasant English Heritage employee as I was driving from the EH Carpark. With her clipboard in hand, she positioned herself in front of me and gestured for me to stop, which I dutifully did! She asked if it was me flying a drone over the castle to which I replied “yes thank you.” She then went onto to say that you cannot fly over EH property as it wasn’t allowed. I didn’t have the time, or inclination, to debate the subject so I thanked her for her input and said “Oh okay, I won’t fly here again then;” and after a very short lecture about the rules and their policy, which I accepted in atonement, I bid her farewell and we all left knowing we had done our bit!
Stokesay Castle is so close to the road, I could of TOAL from a public place, but I confess that in a moment of idleness, I TOAL from their carpark, which, by the way, I paid a small ransom for! Anyway, I’ll leave a good TOAL point in this Drone Scene Entry along with a history of the place if anyone is interested.
