You’re not too far away by car. Stonehenge is a typical National Trust / English Heritage site with people herded through the attraction quickly and then allowed to linger in the gift shop
You might consider Avebury as either somewhere to fly the same day or to go and avoid Stone henge altogether.
You will notice when you look at the markers on the map that Chris - @clinkadink - has several entries for the Avebury area, he is your expert when it comes to Ancient British sites in the south.
Thanks for the help and advice. I’ve looked at Avebury and Silbury Hill videos. These are all places I will visit at some point, actually I have visited all of them obviously prior to owning a drone and realising the photographic possibilities. I’m retired so fortunately have the time to explore the locations at my pleasure. This really is a massive learning curve but each day I’m getting slightly better at understanding everything especially where and where not I can actually fly. Just want the weather to behave now .
Once again thanks for the advice.
Cheers Terry
@TerryEN10 … Greetings Terry. Rob @macspite is right though, I’ve flown at both Stonehenge and Avebury on multiple occassions. It’s a lot more laid back at Avebury, no security, easy parking and TOAL, and it offers so many more sites within a mile of it. And since your just starting off with droning, this may be a better place for the building up your skills
Thanks for the welcome.
Yes that will probably be initially the best option, think I might be a bit daunted in my drone infancy to shoot video of Stonehenge first . I’m really also getting to know the GADC site as in first glance it can seem overwhelming but as I said previously im getting my head around it . I’ve met another experienced drone pilot who lives near me , smudge202 , and I’m meeting up with another newbie Tuesday, so more the merrier.
Cheers Terry
I flew here today. Added the TOAL/Parking Marker. I really didn’t think it would be available or the gate locked. I guess room for around 5 cars depending how people park.
Had it been a beautiful sunny evening, then things might of been different.
Manged to get some great videos and pics. Unfortunately no visible sunset. Will have to return one day…
