Storage Charging DJI Batteries

Yes, and tbh not checked them. I just think might be better turning on the drone, maybe even a hover in the lounge until the goggles state 50% odd if don’t get to use them.

Also when “manually” charging lipos (or any battery), if you got time charge them slower. I know @SparkyFPV wants to get his Avata batteries to full ASAP, charging at 60W (or whatever the max the avata will do), is worse for them than slower. So if you have time during the day use less amps. TBH I shouldn’t be using 2A on that pack now. Will do the next at 1.5A (1C 1500 /1000). Max safely is 2C (i.e. 3A which I will do if in field and impatient!) though I’m off my own topic here!

I’ve heard this too. My mini 2 is away on a trip with a friend (aren’t I kind lending my drone out?!) on a Thailand trip (so if you see any photos of Thailand/Singapore, etc then they weren’t taken by me!), so can’t check this!

DJI FPV Battery manual

image

So 97% after 1 day, and 60% after 5 days… OK 60 sounds OK, but 5 days sounds too long. Nothing in there about pressing the button resetting the timer… hmmm

DJI would have chosen the best values for their batteries :person_shrugging:t2:

I don’t recall that ever being documented anywhere, on any of their intelligent batteries, it’s just been a thing since the Inspire 1 and OG Mavic Pro (and other DJI drones of the GO3/GO4 era)

Will just leave this here, a Lipo is a Lipo, whether our FPV self build quads, or inside DJI’s plastic with a BMS (and 4-5 times the price)!

The the button dosn’t stop the auto discharge

I’ve tested it and I’m ITK

On the Mini 3? What’s your discharge day counter set to in Fly?

Just confirming then, if you charge to 100% and press the button every day to check the battery level, they still start to discharge? If so, about time DJI  :clap:t2: :bowing_man:t2:

ITK?

In The Know?

What counter :man_shrugging: that was in the older days :joy:

Yes the button has no bearing on the discharge process

No, it doesn’t matter  and the charging is smart so it varies the wattage so it’s not at full wack all the time keeping the battery conditioned :grinning:

I don’t worry about battery storage at all. I’ve always lost the drone or care refreshed it long before damaging the batteries due to the way I store them.

Yeah I think that was kinda my point on my first post here too, Chris.

Someone… I think it might have been @stevesb, just recently claimed some new batteries for an old drone?

It’s a DJI intelligent battery, Martin.

You’re over thinking it

Indeed it is, but much as we all have a love hate relationship with DJI, they’re pretty cool at replacing shit that breaks

Yep that was me 4 new batteries for my mavic 2 the old batteries were 4 yrs old and just started to swell.

See?

I moan like fuck about DJI and their poxy geozones but their customer service is just second to none*.

      * in the drone industry anyway

I have a new O3 air unit on the way… After being sent back… Last time.it was seen working was seconds before ending up in Foleys tent…
