Strange happenings - Mini 4 Pro / RC2 - Waterhead, Ambleside, Lake District

New experience for me today, out at Waterhead, Ambleside flying drone taking photos of the ferries, about 100 yds away from me over Lake Windermere I got the go fly screen, nothing new I’m always catching the edge of the screen and returning to this (RC2).

No worries, hit go fly button as I’ve done before and back to camera view, except it didn’t! I got a white screen saying something like “No Network Connection “, tapped the retry button and screen just went black, oh bugger I thought. Looked at drone and it was returning to home, that’s good but I took off from under a canopy of trees, I’d walked forward a few paces for a bit clearer take off but still not really clear overhead.

In the meantime I’d turned the controller off & on again to reconnect, as the drone started it’s descent luckily it missed the trees and just sat hovering about 4 ft off the ground. I 'd taken off from the edge of the path with a two foot drop to the “beach”. By which time controller had reconnected and I was able to land it at my feet.

Didn’t do any more flying as I reckon I got off lucky.

So be aware if flying from this location you may lose signal

Not sure the screen going white has anything to do with anything blocking your signal, more likely a technical glitch with your controller

Not sure, but was a scary couple of min.

It happened to me when I got my first Air 2, it just went blank, luckily it reconnected and I carried on

@Seadog, it would be really useful if you could share the Airdata logs for this issue, it’ll help people provide you with a more detailed answer based on what actually happened.

If you’re not familiar with Airdata it’s an independent platform that allows you to aggregate your flight records and it also allows you to share logs with other people.

Here’s a guide on how to upload your flight logs to their web site / app:

Setting up Direct DJI Sync

Once your logs are visible in Airdata you can use this guide to share the log(s) in question:

Once you’ve created the share on the Airdata web site simply reply here and paste the URL, someone will then take a closer look for you.

see if this works, but it seems unremarkable and very short, which I suppose the flight was, I’d just brought the drone in to change battery and sent it out again hadn’t got far before things went awol.

I don’t understand what mode change to detour is?

If you look at the log in general then equipment it says firmware info new?
Click on it and it takes you to a page that reads release information and description
I think you might need to update from what that reads :+1:
Other than that mate fuck knows

I’ve not updated to latest firmware as I’ve seen a few people on YouTube have had issues with it, as it’s mainly for the Mavic 4 pro.

It means the drone’s APAS detected an obstacle and flew around it. APAS is Advanced Pilot Assistance System
