Sturminster Newton Mill

Maybe I didn’t look hard enough but I couldn’t see anything here about Sturminster Newton Mill. It’s a working mill (although awaiting repairs at the moment) and evidence suggests a mill on this site dates back over 1000 years. Today it’s run by a trust and enthusiastic volunteers … and you can look over it for a small fee.

There’s a small car park (free) right beside the mill, and easy access to the other side of the River Stour where the best views are to be had. It’s private field with public footpath right beside a main road … so TOAL is straightforward from there.

This picture shows that sometimes the UAV does not have to be high to get a picture that wouldn’t be possible without getting very wet.

Great memories of spending a lot of weekends in my teens on a school-friend’s farm just outside Stur.
(“Stur” was his nickname at school, as he had a delightful, and very strong, “local” accent.)

Great pic, well done!

Lovely pic of one of my favourite local sites. Awesome :+1:
