Swarkestone Bridge

Swarkestone Bridge is a medieval bridge crossing the River Trent between the villages of Swarkestone and Stanton by Bridge, about 6 miles south of Derby. It is currently Grade I Listed and a scheduled monument.

Yes that is a plane you can see going into land at East Midlands Airport and yes Swarkstone Bridge is in Class D airspace - the planes look way bigger in person when your flying here but yeah crazy all is good when flying a Mini3Pro here.

Cheers Chris - I did think it looked smaller than usual and just could not put my finger on what it was.

Thanks for sorting

Use this bridge a lot on my way to Calke Abbey and the Coopers Arms (both excellent venues for very different reasons) and it’s the scene of many a car prang as the bridge and curbing narrow seemingly without warning.

I missed a bus having to stop to let cars passed. It is very much a squeaky bum bridge for sure. Often go over it.
