Take me to church... Waverley Abbey, Farnham

This was a fantastic, but bloody windy, day at Waverley Abbey near Fareham in Surrey. This place was added to Dronescene in 2017 but remarkably no one has marked it as having flown there. @group-fpv members will love this place. :grinning: It is English Heritage managed, oddly Google Maps says it closes at 5pm. It doesn’t, there are a couple of EH info boards there but nothing other than that. We were there quite late in the day, I suspect it could get busy on a nice day. You can park either in the lay-by or in the car park of the Waverley House Hotel and walk across the fields.

I was aiming for the gaps at 0:38 and 0:55… but bottled it at the last moment. I blame the wind.

Nice spot.

Will check it out. Suggest it is closed - “Waverley Abbey Closed 17 May - 6 July”

I’d not seen that - good job I hadn’t else we probably wouldn’t have bothered. I think we probably got in on the last possible day for now then. :disappointed:

We saw a lot of activity in the fields next to the abbey, spoke to someone in a hi-vis jacket, they’re a few days behind schedule but are preparing for filming at the house (they weren’t letting on what!) - it’s been the set for a whole range of things over the years. Shame it nixes access to the abbey though.

If it is English Heritage managed, then their drone code says you cannot fly without permission from them :frowning:

And it obviously stops all the FPV pilots that have flown there.
