Temporary flight restriction showing on Drone Assist but not Altitude Angel?

Hey All

I have been asked to record a roof covering in Harlow CM20 2SX and just checked Drone Assist to check it’s all ok for later this month and it shows a ‘Temporary Flight Restriction’ NOTAM ID R0934/23. It’s very odd, because Altitude Angel does not show the same FRZ and the restriction is until 19th April 2024. Sorry if I missed something previous on the chat group, but is anyone able to kindly advise whether this is likely to be an error or if the area is going to need a Non Standard Flight Application or similar to fly there before April '24. Many thanks indeed!

Looks Fine on our own Dronescene :+1:

Thanks @SparkyFPV I’ve just logged a flight via Drone Assist and the Pre-flight report is similarly not showing any Temporary Flight Restriction Zone. I’m just a bit bamboozled why Drone Assist was showing the FRZ prior to me logging an actual flight. I appreciate you checking and confirming - thanks again!

That is why we use Dronescene it doesn’t list upper air space restrictions

You only need to worry about that if you’re flying above 12,500ft … when you might have a few more things to worry about,

Read the detail of the NOTAM.

Or better to use a site for drone pilots, preferably Drone Scene, that excludes things we don’t have to consider,

Good tip, thank you. I think you’ve been very diplomatic in your message, I can now see that the Temporary FRZ is in effect from above 12,500ft.

Thanks for you’re detailed reply @OzoneVibe I’ve now spotted my error in that I must have accidentally toggled the ‘upper airspace’ layer in Drone Assist, I have now switched it off and it is showing just the info I need. I think I’ll probably take out a paid subscription to Drone Scene then given both you and Sparkyws have suggested it.
Out of interest, on the NOTAM, can I assume that the ‘FL’ number displayed is always multiplied by 100 to provide feet measurement and is this above Ground Level or MSL - sorry I’ve gone a bit rusty on my training - I appreciate your help and experience.
Cheers, Lee

Yes/No … and it doesn’t matter to us anyway - because they don’t exist below Transition Altitude / Transition Level / 3000ft SPS / FL30 … depending on if you’re going up / coming down / and the local air pressure and where you’re flying.

Above Transition Altitude (specified by the airport or region - and in feet on the local region or airport pressure setting) , they are ft x 100 on an altimeter set to SPS (Standard Pressure Setting = 1013.2mb).

Another good reason is all the other apps don’t have a dedicated team or website where you get instant answers

+/- a few minutes, perhaps. :stuck_out_tongue:

Before Wine instant :joy:

Dronescene alone is worth the measly subscription, plus the sub gives you access to a little more stuff in here and some nice little discounts with some of our partners. And as stated aboove, you get pretty immediate answers to your quearies. I pay for my op id as everyone should. I emailed the CAA a question 10 days ago, their answer only popped into me inbox yesterday. Service here is first class!!!
