@GavinHarris all the phone numbers for the ATC of each FRZ are in Drone Scene if ever you want to contact them to request permission to fly your drone.
Most ATCs are very accommodating, don’t be put off by having to reach out to them 
Didn’t realise it was that straightforward! Had visions of paperwork overload!
I have to say, the whole process involving LCY and obtaining ATC permission to fly was excellent from start to finish.
Is there any specific information you have to give them?
@GavinHarris as @JonVoyage says, it’s usually a pretty straight forward process.
Most will ask roughly when and where you’re flying, sometimes they’ll also ask for a courtesy call from you to say when you’ve finished.
Give it a try sometime, it opens up a whole new world of flying locations 
Yes lots, but it’s a simple process in the grand scheme of things and filling in an online form.
I was there professionally (for another purpose) but was able to get a few recreational shots 
I just assumed FRZ’s would be a no-go for me, good to know it’s straightforward to ask (even if they say no). Nothing ventured …

Sorry, last question (I promise!) … how much notice do you typically have to give? Or does it vary?
Some might “request” more permission than others but the reality is often very different.
I’ve put in requests with Blackpool airport with just one hour notice and it was approved.
Give it a try, even if you’re not planning on flying, give them a ring and tell them you’re flying on XYZ time and date and just see what they say.
LCY was a minimum of 7 days’ notice. I understand it may be 14 days within some FRZ’s.
Was very relieved the weather held out, it was my obviously my biggest concern but the conditions were excellent today if a little cloudy.
