I got some great scenes of nothing this afternoon.. got to take off at Dartmouth harbour after crossing with the ferry.. no one complained at at.. though got up very quickly with it and out of earshot. I did press record and must have double tapped as I got zilch of the first trip round the marinas… At least 8 minutes of filming… Well.. thought it was. Pure coincidence that I decided to send it out again seaward. And pure chance I got to sweep the area just before heading out:roll_eyes: didn’t realise till getting back to the accommodation to show the other half.. Could go again as got rest of the week..
Another lesson learned.
I could reduce the frame rate in software for the second attempt and give some semblance of normality with it.
No, the DJI Mini 4K does not have an automatic recording feature upon takeoff. While it offers various intelligent flight modes like QuickShots and ActiveTrack, these features need to be manually activated after takeoff. QuickShots allows the drone to perform automated maneuvers with a single tap, but it doesn’t start recording automatically upon takeoff. Similarly, ActiveTrack needs to be selected and a subject chosen before it will begin tracking.
I have done that too but a tip.. that works.. Is to leave the mentor card alone and just for up the stone again. It then finished the recording. It has worked every time for me.
Predictive text, one of my pet hates, it takes me longer to type a sentence due to having to go back and correct it and/or keep looking at the dialogue box to see if it’s predicting the words I want to use. It’s all based on American language use not English.
Beautiful area to film, I’m there regularly with my fleet. Best place to sit is on the bench on the hill overlooking the whole harbour, mind the cow sh*t though
I have spent the best part of a whole day just sat there on that bench & flying, so peaceful (when my drone isn’t overhead lol) puts similar areas in Cornwall (like Fowey & Polruan) to shame in comparison to size and things to do. When it’s a perfect day like it was yesterday you just can’t beat it.
Recording everything by default is not a bad idea. It costs nothing and has no effect on the drone’s performance, any extra battery drainage is minimal. and could be useful for analysing flight details or mistakes in retrospect. Of course I don’t make ‘mistakes’, I do ‘not fully intentional freestyle flying/obeying Newton’s First Law…’. You do not have to keep the tootage, and much of mine never gets to be xfer to permanent storage and is often formatted out of existene without ever being seen, but it gives me a choice I would not have otherwise have had.
If anyone from DJI is reading this, I’d like the ability to shoot video and take stills simultaneously without pausing the video, please, thank you… Ideally with the stills at different settings to the video!
But, yes, I’ve accidentally stopped recording without being aware of it, more than once. The worst of this is that you can guarantee an unrepeatable phenomenom occurs in perfect focus and perfect lighting, or footage that you could sell to the media for thousands, and there’s only one person to blame for the disaster, yourself!
