The BEACH - Skinnet, Talmine and Tongue, Sutherland, Scotland

A showreel for perhaps the most spectacular beaches we have seen this year, Skinnet and Talmine beaches in the Kyle of Tongue, Sutherland…

Happy with the idea and the edit on this one, I tried something diferent with the title, which I think works, and althoguh I could have edited it into smaller bits fo footage to fit in with the Music - Porcelain by Moby - I think this edit is ok, happy to receive constructive criticism on this as always:)

Stunning scenery, you could easily think this was somewhere far from the UK

Nice smooth movements and transitions timed well with the music, what’s not to like?

What is the deal with using well known music like this? I was under the impression that anything that is not licenced for use on YouTube, unless you have gained permission for use, would get your video restricted.

Thanks… It is a stunning area, a friend moved there recently, so we have been up twice now, the video is a compilation of the footage from the 2 trips - individual video’s for each location are also on the channel…

Some music has to be proper;ly licensed, some you can use as the artist / music label allow its use, but if the channel gets monetised then they would get the ad revenue for the ads on the video…

TBH I tend to use mainlky free music from a few trusted sources, but this was one I just had to take a punt on - once you upload it then YT tell you if its suitable to use or not, if you get a Copywrite claim then you can use it but would lose any revenue from the video for Ads - I am not yet monetised, a long was to go for that to happen - if it is not allowed to be used without proper licensing then you get a copywrite Strike and the video is restricted until you either upload proof of permission or delete it…

Alternatively you can subscribe to any of the music licensing websites - such as Epidemic Sound - and for a monthly fee you can use anything they have without fear of a copywrite strike…

I will subscribe to one of the music licensing sites, but not until I am making at least a little income to cover the cost, so another 690 subscribers and another 2700 hrs of viewing a year needed first…

So do I, a friend lives 2 minutes away, its 8 hrs drive from here atm… One day I shall live a lot closer
This was a combination of footage from our April trip and June trip, a showreel highlighting the beauty of the area, I think it works…

Like the video Suzanne - nicely shot - I like the pace and also the height you shot it at. I prefer dissolves to ‘dip to black’ as it feels more relaxing to my eyes.
Lovely scenery- you certainly get out and about with your drone.

Thank you… I normally use disolves, but with the title being black I though fade out and back would be more suitable…

Having the drone has re-opened my love of photography and allowed me to grow, and if you have he kit then it would be a shame not to get out and use it… I have had Mighty Midge for just over 12 nonths now, and have almost 150 video on YT, still learning, but thats what I enjoy about the hobby… I would fly every day if I could, but sadly have to work to earn the pennies for the drone(s)…

Thank you for the explanation.

This has caused me to look into it a little more and have found that there are a number of websites that claim to be able to tell in advance if a song will be flagged for copyright infringement on youtube. I might give it some time to test and check against an uploaded sample to see if it is accurate. Last thing I want it to re-edit a whole video because of having to change the track.

Cool, I had look into a few myself, but the results were meh, if you find a good one please share it back and I will give it a try myself

TBH re-editing a video is a pain, but its still good practice with DaVinci Resolve, so I dont get upset about it, just take the opportunity to have some more practice

Only had 1 video that I couldnt use the music for, so its not as big an issue as I thought it would be…

Actually it’s the same for me - I’m a professional photographer and videographer and was getting stale (and prices reducing) - then drones came along and now I’m as enthusiastic as ever.
