The Old Coastguard Lookout, Hurlestone Point, Somerset
This was an entry for the RTF Drone Photo Competition “Isolation” in September. Due to the incompetence of one of the ChallCom minions* who mistyped a line of code, the image was never entered in the poll to find the best picture. Judging by the likes it got when first posted the image was a strong contender for the top spot!
*The minion has since been transferred to the ChallCom Gulag Re-education Centre
As the creator himself says, it’s a bit of a sh*t picture. But it has within it at least five of the venues twhere meetups have been held over the autumn months. Want to be informed of meets in the Portsmouth area (and elsewhere in the South East)?
Simple. Join Group South East and you will be automatically notified of upcoming events! Or join your own regional group to benefit from announcements about activities in your local area.
And, if you haven’t tried it yet Drone Scene now makes it so easy to arrange meetups anywhere in the country with a little typing and a few clicks of a mouse. That leaves the organiser free to enjoy the meeting themselves and get all the praise for their excellent organisation!
One of a series taken for the just finished RTF Black and White Challenge before being given the monochrome treatment in Lightroom. Simon finished a creditable third.

Without adding further fuel to the debate, can we just say that we have put this behind door number 25 so that we, the Challenges Committee, can say a BIG Thank You to all who have taken part in (or voted in) any of our challenges this year and please, if there is a challenge that you’d like to see, drop us a message at @Challenges_Committee and we will give it a go.
All that remains is for us to say we hope everyone has a great, enjoyable and safe Christmas holiday and to thank the Grey Arrows Drone Club members whose work is featured here:
There are so many excellent photos and videos on display in the various categories of the forum, we have skimmed the surface in bringing just a few of them to your attention. Apologies to all those whose work is not featured here - it’s simply for reasons of space!
What a brill set of creativity, well done all involved, and thank you for featuring my 2025 Showreel - its not on general release until 4th Jan, when its being featured on the Drone Seekers International Showreel Show…
Thanks for featuring my photo. It’s been great following this daily and seeing some fantastic photos and videos. Hope everyone is having a great Christmas
Bit slow to adding my thanks @Challenges_Committee for representing one of my images in this ‘advent’ calendar and also such a surprise.
In all honesty, this year has been a total bust for me and I had forgotten that image. My year started off as normal doing all one does in life, then came Easter Sunday and my life changed dramatically and my drill since then has been “wake, work, visit hospital, eat, sleep, repeat”.
Essentially, my wife suffered a large acute left-sided basal ganglia haemorrhagic stroke with mass effect. 7+ months later she remains hospitalised, unable to move her right hand side and only able to communicate with simple yes/no/umm’s and facial expressions. I don’t say this to garner any sympathy, but more to explain my quietness this year. Also, to thank all members and visitors to GADC for their imagery as it allows me to grab moments of quiet and peace that allow me to reset and continue.
And finally, this brings me to my mantra for this year: “Tell your loved ones every chance you have that you love them. You never know when will be your last chance!”
I was hit by a horrid virus in mid December and have hardly seen the light of day for weeks. Only coming out of it now and have a chance to look at the review. Really enjoyed the length and breadth of the type of images and videos shown. Well done to all.
