First foray out with the Air 3S. Spent most of my time playing around with different modes etc so got fewer photos and videos than I expected, but managed to make use of the free pano mode to grab this image with a (somewhat wonky) Cromer Pier…
Yes now I like these, great angles and perspective, it’s a place on my bucket list
This is The Kingshouse Hotel on Rannoch Moor near the entrance to Glencoe. Managed to grab a few drone pics after my pre-wedding photo-shoot on Saturday. Even on a cold grey January day I still love Glencoe.
The original Kings House, said to be one of Scotland’s oldest licensed inns, was built in the 18th century. It was sited at the head of Glen Coe for travellers crossing Rannoch Moor. The strategic military road crossed the River Etive at this point by the inn. The military route, built by the British army in the aftermath of the 1745 Jacobite rising, then headed towards Glen Coe before ascending the Devil’s Staircase to Kinlochleven.
Dorothy Wordsworth is reported to have said … Never did I see such a miserable, such wretched place, – long rooms with ranges of beds, no other furniture except benches, or perhaps one or two crazy chairs, the floors far dirtier than an ordinary house could be if it were never washed. With length of time the fire was kindled and after another hour of waiting, supper came, a shoulder of mutton so hard that it was impossible to chew the little flesh that might have been scraped off the bones.
Superb shots as usual John @Drumsagard, Glencoe is my favourite place from all the places I have visited in the world. Prior to moving to Scotland we used to have at least 2 camping holidays a year on the bikes, in the Highlands. Once we hit Glencoe it always felt that all the work related baggage was lifted from my shoulders. That and the roads are cracking on the bike
Cheers Andy @Onanist I know exactly what you mean. I was sitting on the rocks by the Cauldron on Saturday and all I could hear was the sound of the flowing water and it felt so peaceful and quiet.
Where’s the snow n ice? Camped in Glencoe quite a few times opposite the Clachaig, for both winter & summer climbing. Know how quickly it can come & go.
It certainly went fast. Like… er…Snow off a dyke!
I passed through both Glenshee and The Lecht ski slopes yesterday, hardly a drop of snow to be seen
Tintern Abbey, Tintern Wales, Thought Id Pop Here Today Whilst In The Area But When I Got Here There Was Scaffolding Up One Side & A Whole Load Of Renovation On Going, Then The Weather Started To Go Real Gloomy, That’s My excuse Anyway
Its part of a 5 year refurbishment programme started mid 2023 - going to be some time before that scaffolding will be out of shot
Ah right ok thanks for the info, I bet that’s going to cost an arm & leg, I guess they’re preserving the ruins
Love the colour of the sea, do we really have sea like that in & around the uk, bet it looks even better when the sun is out
