The Forth Bridge at North Queensferry

Had a short trip to Edinburgh last week and decided to take the longer road home via the Forth Bridges. I’ve filmed from the south before, but this was my first visit to North Queensferry. Lovely little village (with a much better TOAL option for the Forth Bridge).

The SignalBox site (https://www.map.signalbox.io) came in incredibly useful to avoid wasting a tonne of battery! :+1:

Fantastic video, we used to stay in the Albert hotel there, but it’s now closed

Brings back so many memories from taking the ferry across the Forth before the first road bridge was built, to many trips across the rail bridge as an enthusiastic train spotter!

I’ve never been on the Kingdom of Fife side, but have been to South Queensferry. Impressive as this thing is in fllm or photograph, it is absolutely amazing in the flesh, or steel.

Trivia time; all bridges on Network Rail are numbered and prefixed according to the route they are on, e.g. GWML Bridge 124 is the 124th bridge on the Great Western Main Line, counting from Paddington. Except this bridge; the officical designation on the railway for this bridge is, simply, ‘the bridge’. Similarly, the Severn Tunnel is ‘the tunnel’, colloquially ‘the hole’…

They sort of speak for themselves.
