Another delay in adjudication while we investigated your pictures, both of which we are rejecting.
The bouncy castle does not seem to bear any relation to the event taking place, being in a children’s play area separated from the show field by a football pitch and a lake.
Neither picture adequately shows the more than 12 stalls.
We are unsure which is the cordoned show ring, we suspect it is this
but as it is covered (as is the other potential candidate) we cannot see what event, if any, is taken place under the covering.
Lastly we are looking for a summer fete or fair. This is neither, it is a music festival.
Hence we are rejecting both your entries. It may seem harsh but the Challenge does require that rules are strictly observed. The good news is that you can find a fete or fair in the next few weeks and, paying due attention to making sure the bonus items are clearly visible, re-photograph the subject.
Having been a postie for a few years, I can honestly say that looks can be deceiving. Yes, there’s the usual mix of stereotypes in the workplace (quiet, loud, joker, barrack room lawyer, backstabber etc), but it was the most toxic environment I’ve ever worked.
There has been some controversy over our decision to dock John768 a point as the proof he submitted for the river under the bridge did not show the word “River”, only “Humber”
A previous entry showing the same bridge by another contestant had an Ordnance Survey map with the words “River Humber” which raised no concerns. It was John’s Google Map that led to us finding that the waterway is, in correct usage. “The Humber” or “The Humber Estuary” and not “The River Humber”. So even the Ordnance Survey can get things wrong.
The requirement is:
River - marked as such on Google Maps or Ordnance Survey (proof required)
That was met in the first case but not in John’s hence the deduction of a point.
Following a public intercession by a third party (although we have asked for such matters to be conducted by private message) we have decided that in this case only we will re-instate John’s point for a river running under the bridge.
Any further pictures of the Humber Bridge will not get a point for the Humber Estuary being underneath.
Discussions on this or any other adjudication matters must be by private message to @Challenges_Committee
The Wellington Monument is close to Aldershot town centre and is easily accessible on foot or by car, with a free car park adjacent to the statue.
From this site
The car park is in the background of your picture, next to the statue.
A reminder:
Subject and bonus items being claimed must be clearly visible.
We have the facility to zoom in on large screens. Those viewing this on phones will struggle to see the statue, its brick plinth is just about visible.
This last time we will allow the picture, probably to save the CAA and Farnborough ATC further troubles.
You can claim your three points. Do you want to claim either of the bonus points?
Yes sorry I edited it about the points as I read it wrong,
Regarding TOAL next to the statue on drone scene it states about the land being prohibited & is why I TOAL’D from where I did knowing I’d get it in the shot even tho it’s 600 feet ish away,
The rules with MOD seem un clear hence why I did not want to risk going on their land to fly,
I also read on google that you must get permission to TOAL from there land & with very little time left ( after finding this out ) this was the only way I could get the shot done with the date I had booked with ATC farnborough ….
This is the Friarton Bridge in Perth, spanning The River Tay. Taken on 28th July aound 13:20, using a DJI Mini2. Just behind it you can see King James VI golf course which is situated on Moncrief Island, notable as it is the country’s only self-contained course on a river island. Right behind the bridge is the Willowgate Acivity Centre. They don’t like drones very much in there, but plenty places for TOAL outside of their grounds
Claim 1 Bonus Point for event taking place in a cordoned off ring show
Claim 1 Bonus point for a bouncy castle or inflatable slide
Claim 1 bonus point for more than 12 stalls
Total 4 points claimed
Here we go again fingers crossed this entry is ok😊
mmhhhh,
Two of those “orange” boats appear to be under orange boat covers, are they really blue underneath? We can’t tell??? So as the entry is not admissible, you are more than welcome to try again. And we hope that you do!!!
Maybe buy them a pack of Tennent’s or, better still, a bottle of Buckie in exchange for removing the covers so we can all see what lies below
The pin in the map screenshot is (roughly) where the picture was taken. As you can see, that’s right next to Anderston station, which is literally underneath the bridge. There’s a very little bit of track visible in bottom left of the picture:
It being the low-level line, that’s as much as you’re getting… and I couldn’t think of any other bridges nearby that had all three, so thought I’d chance my arm.
