The Great Big GADC 7th Birthday Challenge and Treasure Hunt!

Must be from north of the border as down here it is our national sport - I guess he prefers Shinty :man_shrugging:

After much deliberation and googling, we have come to the conclusion that this is indeed a village green. So have another point

But not so quick, I have just been reminded that a village green has to conform to the requirements set out here

Can you provide any more evidence @john768

golf, curling, rugby sevens, highland games, cycling, water polo to name a few. But the one that most people will deny? The modern game of football? Yes indeed it came from north of the border

I’m claiming 3 points for a pub with 7 ir more cuatomers outside and with listed status. This is the Three Jolly Sailors in Burniston, north of Scarborough.

  1. A pub YES
Bonus for seven or more customers at tables outside YES
Bonus if associated with a notable person (proof required) NO
Bonus if it is a listed building (see note *1 below - proof required) YES

I mention for interest only that there were also 5 yellow umbrellas outside. I know I can’t claim for them but the ONLY listed pub AND the only pub/cafe with FIVE yellow brollies - bad luck!

@hharron we had to do a little googling to find your pub on the Historic England website. Your points are awarded, but next time it would be really nice if you provided the link for us? Ta muchly :+1:

Most heritage lines are single track. I might have been tempted back if a model railway was running on a small track to the side  - but took this on the first day of the comp.

From the supplied photo, we can’t really tell if that flag is on a bit of common ground at the side of the access road, or actually in the garden of the private single-family occupancy house. Do you have any more photos you can share while we have a chat about this one?

I can go take a ground based shot later tonight or tomorrow. My other drone shots have more tree and less flag in them.

8. A recreational motorboat - not an inflatable or a RIB

  • Bonus for two or more outboard engines on the boat
  • Bonus for a waterskier being towed
  • Bonus for the boat having a red hull

Wat Tyler Marina, Vange Creek, Pitsea, 02/09/2024, DJI Mini 3 Pro

The red hulled motor boat is up for sale so I assume that is why there is no outboard motor attached, but the others do have outboard motors.

Can I claim 2 points? If the Committee are being tough today then I will settle for 1 point just for a recreational motorboat, thank you.

Nice little row of boats  Shame the two outboards on the blue-hulled boat weren’t on the red one :frowning:

18. Birthday Rainbow Quickshots - easy subjects- although they must be taken on or after the specified start date.

  • Week 5 Starting August 18th - 3 or more Blue tents.

Barleylands Camping Ground, Barleylands Farm Park, Billericay, 02/09/2024, DJI Mini 3 Pro

2 blue tents are clear but the 3rd one is hidden behind the grey tent on the left of the picture (toilet tent). Sorry you might need to zoom in to the left of the orange stripe on the tent

I claim 1 point please.

@JoeC must have a monster monitor because it is not easy to discern two outboards on the blue hulled boat.

No water skier and no view of the stern of the red boat - 2 points
