Unknown to the other judges competitors were given a verbal indication by one person that using one drone to capture images for all was ok.
That fact did not immediately come to light.
As the drone used was variously claimed to be a Mini 3 or a Mini 4 and, in one instance only 3 seconds passed between pictures suspicions were aroused.
We are allowing the one drone/many owners ploy once and once only. It will not be allowed again.
The signs have been examined and, while those who were there and wrote them will claim they are legible we do not consider them to be so. The fact that some competitors felt the need to indicate which were the drones let alone the messages also indicates that the signs were not legible.
The intention of the last bonus was for all seven messages to be clearly visible. We feel that any reasonable person would realise that and admit it is any error on our part not to include the word message. But the subject is for seven drones flying under their own power. The rules require them to be clearly visible. Why would we give a three point bonus for precisely the same thing?
The picture(s) show a number of barely visible drones of various brands carrying illegible messages.
Therefore we will award two points.
And this time we will award those points to each competitor. Next time the two points will be shared between all.
Iāve similarly enjoyed being a spectator on the sidelines with no āskin in the gameā as it were (having been a competitor and then a judge in previous years).
This might have reignited my interest enough for me to dust off the wallet and re-enter the hobby in time for the 8th Birthday Challengeā¦
Another instance of a competitor having to indicate where the subjects are. At least it saved us from a long game of āWhereās Wooferā.
There are two dogs in this picture. Clearly visible?
Instead we had the fun of finding document 25280 from 22 October 2008 in a closely packed page of documents, not in numerical order, all dated 22 October 2008.
@Acedrone We have now had an opportunity to read the document regarding Castlefields Park on a PC monitor rather than glance at it on a small phone.
The application for registration as a Village Green by Wilson & Wilson, solicitors for the Castle Fields Preservation Society, was rejected by the Commons Commissioner on 27/02/1979
So no point for your image. Happily this does not affect your position in the Challenge unless your nearest competitor can grab 10 points before close of play
All done. I have submit an image for each of the 24 tasks so hoping to get a Gold āCompletistā badge,
I have enjoyed the competition very much, the banta and the controversies but most of all getting me out there and flying thatās what it is all about. We are all winners if we do this
A BIG thank you to the @Challenges_Committee for over seeing this not an easy task but we have made it to the end . Thank you
You definitely should plan on it next year. Itās a great way to get you using your drone in ways you probably hadnāt before and to get out and see places you never thought youād go!
Im claiming 3 points for video footage from inside a derelict or abondoned building. In this case the main court from the abandoned Scarborough South Cliff Tennis Courts.
DJI mini 4 pro
7th Sept
An abandoned or derelict building (Donāt trespass!) YED
Bonus for a video or hyperlapse between 15 and 30 seconds of flying inside YES
Bonus if it is mentioned in a Wikipedia article (post the link with your image or video) Kindof in as much as any sporting ground might be.
The North of England Championships were held on this court about 100 years ago although last staged here in 1968! The ticket office is still there but the security guard said I was only allowed to film from inside the court!
Top down view for artistic purposes only, not part of the challenge.
Iām claiming 1 point for a heritage railway. Scarborough North Bay railway. Full disclosure - to save you checking, 20inch gauge but the engines are described as āTrains are hauled by our fleet of heritage steam outline diesel locomotives, each with their own interesting history.ā No steam so no bonuses at all! Also I have no idea what Heritage means in this context but the word appears on the website so I hope it fits the brief!
DJI mini pro 4
Sept 7th
A heritage railway. Any gauge from minimum (15 inch) upward YES
Finally can I say thank you to the organising committee and all the competitors for another super year of challenges. Iāll never be more than lower mid table but I really enjoy getting out and giving it a go. I like the effort you all go to, to keep to the brief, that I get points disqualified - thats part of the fun, keep it like this! As a suggestion Iād like to be able to claim more than one subject per picture. Fewer pics, less to judge!
The one point we are awarding (no points for saving us work, your thanks or your honesty regarding the diesel āsteamā locos) combined with the three from the tennis court has lifted you several places in the competition.
I got into it, coupled with slightly better weather. A good competition and an objective scoring system encourages the totally unartistic amongst us. Keep it going!
No Leaderboard update this evening so weāre all off down the Prop and Gimbal to get absolutely blootered! But you can stay here, and post the final Leaderboard and the results at 23:00. Just when they call last orders! Oh, no doubt some joker will dump a contentious image or two on you at 22:59 - have fun!

Click-the-Pic⢠to go to the final Leaderboard and see how everyone has done over the last seven weeks!
Spoiler Alert!
Brief highlights: Congratualtions to our three winners, in third place is @DroneGeek, second is @AdrianR and our overall winner is @john768 - it was a close contest with just three points separating the top three!
All three winners managed to complete the entire run of subjects, @Acedrone, in 4th place managed to complete all but one of the challenges - partly letting himself down by supplying a document proving his entry was invalid!
The most popular subjects were 4. Tower and 12. Bridge with 19 entries each, the least popular was 20, Military Vehicle which attracted just 4 entries from the 21 who competed.
