Stourhead from the ground. Aerials here
My daughter and I have just returned from camping at Roundway Hill near Devizes. Great views of the sunset and the moon rise. My daughter found a nice spot to watch the sunset from the tree. The night was cold and windy, but we had great fun watching the bright moon
Lovely spot, I’ve walked along the canal and up the Caen Hill lock flight, but not gone off track ![]()
Great shot Steve, I should have taken my drone the day we were there, it was a glorious autumn sunny day, must go back some time
With the drone of course

It’s probably about a 90 minute walk from the locks to the hill fort and/or white horse. I took a 360 pano of the lock during the GADC Birthday Comp. You can see the hill in the background.
Google Maps takes you the long way around though, so for anyone planning a trip, below is what most folk use to get there. It is only then a 10 minute walk to the hill fort.
I also added more detailed directions by car and foot to my Drone Scene post.

Cheers @clinkadink Chris, I will certainly take the off track walk, looks like some amazing views you captured there ![]()
Woodland photos from a couple of weeks ago taken with the XT-30 with 18-55mm lens. Grace Dieu woods, Leicestershire.
One of my edits done in affinity photo, original of this was a bit under exposed but still turned out quite nice.
A visit between storms last night, Unfortunately to wet for flying, hopefully back tonight
Clifton Suspension Bridge, Bristol.
These cropped up in ‘My photos’, taken a while back when I used to lug a Nikon D200 w 70-200mm lens everywhere. I felt there was something ‘Je ne sais quoi’ about them.
1 x Canal, 4 x Kayaks in a Lock, maximum points
I still can’t stop looking out for mobile cranes
Hopefully we’ll have grown out of it by next year. I’m still studying the car park at the supermarket where my wife works every time I drop her off or collect her from work looking for blue and red cars in groups.
Next year is already planned. You will be looking for five red canoeists in a car park or five blue cars in a lock …
Best arrange for a trip to the North then

A wet, cold and windy visit to Barbury Castle today. I had the Mini 2 with me, but the weather was grim. So I made the most of the walk whilst grabbing a few shots with the DSLR.
That last photo is the best by far
