I am also not referring to any of that, just saying you are competitive, some rules may have been bent as well but hey ho.
I also said that I can see your frustration with people not reading things properly, we have all done that including me, and I also was not asking questions all the time but went back to read the rules again and again if needed.
I wouldn’t want to be in any of your shoes for these competitions, but to say it might be the last challenge/competition when for this reason gets a lot of members out to fly is not good news.
I went out last week with the intention of entering (first time out for 10 months flying), but decided not to bother because I believe my entry wouldn’t count and others on the list are not achievable without travelling for hundreds of miles so it’s just not worth it for me when others are so far ahead.
You yourself how fun this is to do but also know the expense as I seem to remember stating this in one of your posts.
Yup - I think I used more diesel in those few weeks than the rest of that year … although only left Hampshire once.
As I said back then, and people have said above, sometimes you have your drone sat next to you and think … why? There’s nothing worth flying over to take pics/video? … then the challenge has you rummaging through Google and nerdy sites for all sorts. It’s a lot of fun.
Easy guys, I’m just enjoying the extra ideas for filming/shooting, grateful to everyone on here , committee and members alike
would never have thought to find a tunnel whilst on my short holiday to film a steam train going backwards, or stop on the side of the road whenever i see one of the categories like a harvester.
I say just enjoy it and play (being he operative word) the game in the light manner the way it’s meant to be so everyone has fun.
I’m time rich but cash strapped. So some of this is purely an intellectual exercise. Research for possible places to provide the images is intriguing and has increased my knowledge of botany, wastewater treatment, the transport network, aviation history and mineral extraction amongst others. Dronescene has been very helpful in confirming or denying the usability of proposed launch sites and flight paths.Litchi Mission Planner and Google Earth have allowed me to test some of those plans - even the “fantasy flights” deep within FRZs and National Trust enclaves.
I have no chance of getting to all te sites I have found (details available for a financial consideration ) but nonetheless I am thoroughly enjoying the competition. I wish the winner well
Ditto, 2 years ago, almost never leaving Hampshire in my quests, and even splitting the county up to do day trips that enabled 4+ to be collected in the one trip.
Managed 6 one day.
Right let’s start todays. I filmed this yesterday.
No 15 A vineyard
*– Bonus point if selfie pic included of you drinking wine.
Put photo in as said selfie pic but in video too. Yes it is there wine I’m drinking got at local shop tho as vineyard was shut at time.
Taken at little wold vineyard, south cave, Beverley Rd, east yorkshire at 11am.
No 18 An RAF airfield – Must have been last used for any flying activities on/before 31/12/1949 – Bonus point if the original Hanger buildings are still in use – Bonus point if the original Control Tower building still exists
Taken at 2.15pm yesterday from Catfoss, near Waco uk just off A165, East Yorkshire.
There’s now work places on site and using area. So I’m not certain if one of these is still original Hanger. I’ll leave that for judges.
That is the original tower tho.
Hope this is adequate.
Taken this afternoon (25/07). Location: my neighbour’s garden.
On this old table are the last remnants of what was once a thriving glasshouse of grape vines. There are two (well, really one and a little bit) vines clinging on in there amongst all the brambles. They even produced a small bowl of grapes last year (they have not flowered this year… I think it will be their last on this earth ).
And yes, that’s me with my big bottle of Chablis, claiming the bonus point.
I now throw myself upon the mercy of the honourable committee…
