The Mission - FPV Rhiwagor Waterfall, Bala, Wales, 4K 60 fps

A cold, crisp, but still day offered a chance before the predicted snow for a day out, and a long-awaited target was our goal, Rhiwagor Waterfall, near Lake Vrynwy, Bala.

A long drive through misty valleys and over icy roads brought us to the car park and the mile-long walk in 0C conditions up to the falls,. Arriving it was not busy, so we flew the AIR3 and the AVATA2, capturing both cinematic views and FPV close-in fun flying up the falls, 35 minutes of flying chilled us to the bone, but leaving us with enough footage for this video!

We start with an intro to the Mission, the scene being set with B roll, then a fast high-level flight up the falls, followed by a low-level medium-speed flight close into the falls - with a nice wave from a guy on the top - and then some cinematic views before returning down the falls… I have a feeling that some of the footage may make for a nice slo-mo and will explore this in the near future…

All of the footage used is shown at the normal filming speed of 60fps - apart from the slo-mo section at 1min 23 to 1min 28.

Looks great. Out of interest how does it work with the left and right twist, overriding the horizontal gimbal you get with the Minis - how do you control that?

Cracking stuff as always, I want my next car to be made of the same steel your nerves are made from! Lesson learned as well; this was a dull winter day but check out the colours in that landscape, much better than summer when you can’t see half of the scenery because of the trees and everything is green…

Thanks… Nerves were ok on this one tbh, I was more nervous at Spout Force in October… Yeah, grey days need something of interest to show, and even in winter there are colours in the bracken and moss…

The AIR3 has the slider for the gimball, a bit of practice and easy to do… The AVATA is all done by the MC…

I’ve only recently started watching your content.

Absolutely amazing on many, many levels.

If you’ll forgive the expression,

You must have some big honking brass ones to get some of those shots. I’ld be shaking to much to fly in a straight line.

Thank you kindly… I am blessed with good hand eye coordination and hyperfocus, and have been lucky with the flying so far - one day it will all go horribly wrong I am sure, but until then, Care Refresh is the answer…

Fying in close certainly raises the heart rate a bit, but it also focusses you, totally in the moment, and looking ahead to weave through the obstacles, I love flying in close and quick, and this is all done with a stock AVATA2, and the MC… I have only had the A2 since October, although had an A1 last October…

Thanks you kindly… It was definitely a fun place to fly, and not that difficult to do either, those falls just keep on giving as you ascend

Was wondering if you are using the head tracking with the MC or just using the gimbal roller on the remote

Neither, just flying it as stock, and using the toggle hat sitch to add some upwards flying while keeping the drone levelish…

Note to self, must get to grips with using the head tracking sometime soon…

Stunning as ever. I’d assumed the AVATA 2 was big until I looked it up!
