Thatās a really clear shot of the bricks at the bottom
Starting to think you guys are absolute nuts, in a nice way of course!!! Some great footage their guys, itās definitely starting to get my attention.
Unlucky mate. Whatās the damage?
Frame stripped the standoffs and split in 2 lol
I thought your frame wouldnāt be too bad. I guess you where going at speed. Looks like the dive the towers is your nemesis that needs conquering
Itās a solid frame but where Iād force fitted the Air unit in the back it sacrifices durability. I needed to remove the rear standoffs to fit in the air unit and replaced them with a 3D printed mount and screwing into TPU isnāt great for durability
It was real unlucky. It looked like your quad was prized apart from the rear
I think it landed arse first
I still had a couple of packs to finish off after the session on NYD, so I stopped by yesterday to fly them. I donāt have any footage because the SD card was still in the PC but I did manage a fair bit of carnage in 10 minutes.
I donāt rate these CNHL Black LiPos - both of them have jumped out of their skin. Admittedly under duress.
Iāll also be needing a new arm and bumper (bumper disintegrated /gone, arm delaminated), new VTX antenna (smashed), a couple of props (in stock) and some battery straps (ripped virtually through).
Time to spend some of my Christmas money.
I have to fly my mini2 like an angel when my Mrs is with me. She would go nuts if I did what you boys did!
Sounds like a costly outing mate.
But at least your getting out.
I always keep spare sd cards in my bag these days
Yes, shouldāve snagged some on Prime Day.
I didnāt crash my drone , my son did he borrowed it for a couple of days when he went clamping on a farm , I expected him to do simple flights in an open field but no he tried to do a video of the track up to his glamping hut , tried to turn left through a gate but ended up 12 ft up a tree ! ā¦ā¦managed to dislodge it and it dropped onto the only rock at the base of the tree. Initial damage report was a cracked top cover , easy fix but when we got the bottom cover off we noticed all the screw holes had cracked with the impact , so we needed a middle frame section and it had turned into a major strip down and rebuild .
Ordered the parts from replace base ( great ) and with the aid of you tube we tackled the job ā¦.think all is ok need to do a full function test and calibrations before any further flight
Canāt load the Video of crash but here is a photo of rebuild in progress
From just before Christmas - gave my son a go with my new Evoque.
He was trying to see the reflection of the drone in the shiny chimneyā¦
so this is the video , as you can see the track goes uphill so heās loosing height as he moves forward , corrects it but turning at the gate it all goes wrong , he should have just stayed in the field and took a still
Well I did an IMU, Compass, Sensor, gimbal and joystick calibration and fitted new props and operator ID labels, then today completed a test flight testing all functions in all speed modes and pleased to say everything seems fine ā I am back in the air ā
Not so much crashed as canāt seem to keep the damn thing in the air at the minute. Even on a relatively calm day in a nice wide-open space.
Back to school methinks.
Or maybe Iāve not been buying enough stuff lately. Perhaps a couple of 6s LiPos will help.
Made an emergency descent and landing with the Frankendrone yesterday - it started making an odd noise, fortunately as it was just overhead, so I brought it down rather rapidly - rapidly enough to break a 3D printed antenna mount ( easy enough to print a replacement ).
The noise turned out to be due to the batteryās balance lead coming loose from where it was tucked away and the connector being hit by one of the props - connector is buggered but have a spare
Fortunately doesnāt look too bad. Just a comment there on your balance lead⦠Whilst skim watching bardwells ābuild a droneā series (well mainly Radio, binding, etc setup part), he discussed this (for first turn onā¦) And his solution to those balance leads⦠Rubber bands
Hold in balance lead when charged, and when uncharged wrap round⦠Easy visual and keeps that damned lead from hitting props
Most of you probably know this, but sometimes the simplest things⦠And good old postman leaves loads
