What went wrong?
I’ve got my Arduplane flight log to analyse, but I suspect incomplete initial settings.
I’ve been building this stop-start over the past 18 months and I reckon my inconsistency was to cause.
Unfortunate, as some of the gear in it was not cheap, CUBE FC, Herelink video and controls, HDMI camera etc.
Here it is in it’s glory day
… Should have a big warning on this post - now I am looking at 3dxr (no idea who they were) and realizing there are even more ways to spend money in this hobby than I thought
If you want an instant way to clear your bank account just visit 3DXR store
I’m amazed at the quantity they stock at the value, their financing is awesome
I might have crashed on a very windy beech…
And yes, there might be sand in the engine.
Had to buy a paint brush to clean it all out properly.
The gimbal isn’t happy. It points left when I turn it on and doesn’t straighten up for about 30 seconds or so… Not sure what that’s all about.
Got a compressed air can to blow all that sand out? It’s a bugger in the motors and moving parts.
Today’s lesson: Spend the first pack finding your feet. Especially if you spent the previous evening ripping it up on the sims. Throttle response is NOT the same.
Farewell, Darwin 79, you served me well but spares are no longer available, so it looks like it’s time for a new frame. Maybe something a bit more accommodating of the new VTX, and a bit more robust.
ouch
It’s always good to have a legitimate excuse to buy new stuff. I was so impressed with the last FlyFish frame, I’ve got this on the way.
Although I suspect I will still fly like a tipsy pigeon.
playing catchup here with some old videos
Dee (old friend) litterally prooved his technical capabilities to me by disassembling my quad in mid air - I got frames of my prop flying away and the screw!
could not “not share” this video, to give us all a bit of hope in the midst of our crashing quads - there is hope - sometimes the Gyro will save the day like on the above video!
aaah! Forgot the video about the end (hard end!) of my old geprc TX5 Chimp frame - not a long time ago at the Hollywood lodge - that was painful:
and another one I forgot to share:
The shame of following a wing and hitting it… and out of two, your quads keeps on flying!
Take the prop off? Some bugger did that to me once.
Note to self, dont bother trying to fly at night with the Avata 2, lift off, total loss of control, missed every single car, thank god, gps is now toast, last refresh here we go
Jesus @LloydRey! I’m glad i dont live on your street:+1:
GPS satellites prolly obscured by the surrounding buildings; tbh, it doesn’t look like a particularly good place to fly a drone! An open space would no doubt have given you ‘sight’ of sufficient satellites to maintain control. Can Avatas not be flown in ‘Atti’ mode, which would at least have given you some say in where the thing went…
Sorry if that’s a daft question, I don’t know much about FPV flying. Most ‘visible’ GPS satellites will be low to the horizon from most ground obsever positions most of the time, so being surrounded by buildings will affect ‘visibility’.
Nah… I’ve taken off from built-up areas 100’s of times with no issues
