The Scandinavian way

Whilst the UK is putting up £3m in the fight against drones, Norway sets aside NOK 60 million (~£5m) to establish “a national center for drone-based services for use in coastal and aquatic research, mapping and monitoring of habitats, animal communities, and anthropogenic impacts

“This project will establish Norway as an international leader in drone research”

And they’re promoting it with a nation-wide aerial photography competition.

På tide å pusse opp norsken min! :norway:

De er et langt mer opplyst folk. Her er et bilde av en norsk person som koser seg søndag ettermiddag i en kystpark

Wandering along the coastline in the Trondheim suburbs fifteen years ago and this guy appeared. Harming no-one and fun to watch. Over here there would be crowds with torches and pitchforks …

I’m generally quite a fan. Two years of Norwegian classes under my belt whilst we decided if we were brave enough to flytte… then Covid came just as we were starting to edge towards a pre-Brexit exit.

<deep, contented sigh>

I’m not sure I could cope with the winters but I also find temperatures over about 18 degrees C with no cooling wind to be uncomfortable. The ideal would be to have homes in both countries - though buying and keeping a house in the UK has been toil enough.

As for you making the break - when and if Gove-id comes to an end why not take the plunge? I don’t hold out many hopes for Britain in a trade and political climate ravaged by pandemic, no-deal Brexit, Johnson and Trump :frowning:

Don’t forget the Dutch, who have been reclaiming land for decades whilst we (the British government) let the sea take our land, as the east coast, for example shows!

The local council here (Havant Botough Council) are not renewing the beach defences on the westend end of the front beach yet are intending to allow further housing development nearby. Theu also have a plan to speed traffic flow by placing three extra eoundabouts on the main road!
