The Standing Stones of Stennes, Orkney

Another iconic Neolithic Orkney site is the subject of todays drone video, the Standing Stones of Stennes.

An early morning afforded us some time alone with the site, and a chance to fly the drone, although the sheep in the field did mean I had to stay further away and keep a height above what I wanted, but better to do so than to spook the sheep.

Anyhows, a couple of minutes of peace at Stennes, enjoy…

I was hoping you would have this as well, and good to see the Barnhouse settlement at the start. A nice approach to the Ring.

Did you get to see the current excavation, if not film, the current excavation at the Ness of Brodgar? It was all covered over in April.

Thanks Howard, as there is a video of Barnhouse coming in the next week - which *proved to be an interesting site to fly - it made sense to fly from one to the other…

The current Ness excavations were still covered, so no chance to fly there, unfortunately… I believe this year is the last year they are working on them, so they are due to be reburried at the end of the season, shame…
