Does anyone use a body cam when out flying their drone?
There are various threads about being approached while flying/what to do do if approached etc. but I was wondering if anyone uses a cam just in case there is an altercation.
I’m considering getting one just in case I’m approached so at least it’s on record.
I’ve kind of had the same idea, only getting my phone out and recording. I’ve just never had the certain type of situation where I’d use it.
Good idea though, body cam, even if it were only a dummy one, deterrent wise.
I have used one on a couple of occasions where I was expecting confrontations ( I was filming a demonstration). I use an action cam with a mount that clip on my shirt/jacket. As it happened the police were present. They approached me just to politely ask if I had permission to fly as I was within a FRZ. I showed them the authorisation from ATC and they said no problem carry on.

I started looking at ones that record for a couple of hours as that would seem long enough but there are so many.
There have definitely been discussions recently of a few people using them but my search skills seem to be letting me down this morning as I can’t find anyone to @mention in to this thread 
If am in the air, I’ll tell the intruder to hold on a sec while I fly my drone back to film our interaction, if he doesn’t want to be filmed, he’s welcome to leave… 
I’m probably being over cautious but it’s what could happen between contact and getting your drone back to film.
I use a Campark 4k Action Camera ACT74 Xtreme. It’s got a remote start/stop I wear like a watch, just press the button and it stats recording. I use it for filming on my motorcycle too.
I wouldn’t get myself into a situation where I would have to rely on a bodycam.
@uav_hampshire Neither would I intentionally but we don’t always get to pick the situations we find ourselves in do we?
Fair point but I’ve always taken the Betari Box approach whenever needed and it’s always worked well for me…
For the uninitiated like me, what’s the " Betari Box" approach?
Situation awareness management of sorts.
Hit RTH the drone will return while filming an exchange between the two of you of knuckle sandwiches…

I will not wear a bodycam as it would probably be used in evidence against me 
Given what the CPS is like these days you’re probably correct!
It’s definitely something I have considered and am working on. My only reluctance is that its just one more bit of tech to manage.
