The Woman who helps find lost dogs

Nice to see this in the local news section on BBC news earlier today. One of the “rare” positive drone stories in the media.

(Southerners may need subtitles or translation)

200 lost dogs found? Really?

That’s brilliant! Not so good that so many dogs get lost though

Apparently so.

I was a member of a Dog SAR group a few years ago on Facebook.

They were pretty busy and I’m guessing this woman is a member of the same group as she’s local to me.
It’s a semi rural area so very plausible

A positive drone story for once … Looks like a DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise.

I’m sure I’ve seen this? @Howard78

Yeah it’s a familiar story 🥸

I’ve recently joined Drone SAR for lost dogs but not had any call out yet, thankfully. Seemed a good way to constructively use my drone.

I’ve been flying lost dog SAR for the last 3 years or so. Whilst 200 dogs found in a 6 year period is mor than possible, I doubt very much that all 200 were found by the drone. My experience would suggest a drone is an addition to the ground searchers. The drone can cover large areas very quickly and ensure the ground searchers are working the correct areas. Even thermal drones have limited use in finding small dogs in thick undergrowth. Having said that - well done and keep up the great work :+1::+1::+1:
