I currently use an iPhone 13 Pro with the DJI app. I’m looking at tablets (my mini 4 doesn’t run the Fly app reliably) but the Apple tablets are v expensive however this Samsung appears on the Phantom site as a possible solution.
Not understanding the android universe does anyone have any experience of using this tablet with a drone and the Fly app please?
TIA
Dave
I cant comment on that exact tablet but you need to check for the specs of the processor and RAM. Regardless of those specs Id be more interested in screen brightness. I recently bought a refurbished huewai tablet with more than enough power, problem is the screen brightness. Anything more than a dull glow from the sun (most days in Scotland) and I cant see shit on the screen. Ive moved back to my samsung S21 phone, although the screen is smaller I can at least see whats happening on it. I’ll check that tablet out shortly for its specs but i would imagine the processor to be up to the job.

Cheers Darren. The android world is completely alien to me so I appreciate any help you can offer.
Buy it from Amazon or a decent retailer so it can go back when you remember why you have iOS, and save a bit longer for the iPad you really want ;o)

Out of curiosity what do you mean by
What problems are you having? From what I’ve researched the mini4 should run ok? As far as I’m aware it is the oldest/least specced that go fly will happily run on. What version of go fly are you running? It could be that a roll back to an older version would have you sorted? At least until you can save up for a higher spec

The video feed regularly drops out and I get a CPU overload message almost immediately, often within minutes of lifting the drone off the ground. Conversely, flying with the iPhone 13 Pro everything is rock solid. Using latest version of Fly.
Actually, I think I’m wrong. The apple guys will confirm but i think it was the mini5, not the mini4!!! Hence the overload message?
There are loads of cheaper android tablets on the market that will run quite happily. But at the expense of being able to see the sceen in anything but cloudy conditions. Im saving up for the tripltek tablet, the huewai runs well but screen is unusable in bright conditions. The galaxy s21 phone is much brighter but much less real estate. The tripltek is around 800 notes but the brightest screen you can get!!! Its all a compromise unless you have unlimited funds.

Evening I’ve been using refurbished iPads for years , got an iPad mini 2 which I’ve used for both my M2P running the go4 app. The screen is sufficient for my purposes, bit of video lag at distance but nothing drastic. I’ve recently purchased an iPad 5 generation for the fly app, test have proven its again compatible for my mini 2.
Admittedly I’ve removed all the unnecessary apps and use both my iPads solely for the drones.
Despite what everyone recommends to get the latest brand new tablets flebay has its uses. A refurbished mini 2 WiFi can cost you around £100, iPad Air 2 WIFI at around £160, and I found my iPad 5th gen at £150. Obviously the bigger the tablet the more you need to invest in decent tablet holders. Or buy a universal holder for both my drones

I’ve used my Tab S5e for flying, well i used the drone for flying…
Can’t comment on the Tab 8 but the S5e struggled a little with showing smooth video display from the drone. It was just a little juddery, nothing excessive but something to be aware of.
Lots of huawei media pad users on here… have a search

Thanks to everyone who responded.
After thinking about your comments I suspect Chris hit the nail on the head - as a long term iOS user I will probably be best waiting until I can get a mini 5. When all is said and done, so long as I remember my reading specs, the iPhone 13 Pro is working well so it’s not as if I cannot enjoy using my drone.
Thanks again

Assuming you want a tablet (bigger screen), have you thought about getting a second hand i-pad from Amazon (so without the flea-bay risks)?
I recently obtained a Phantom 4 Multispectral for some work assignments, and the app for that only works in iOS. I didn’t have any Apple devices (I use Android with everything else) so I needed an i-pad and of a decent spec too for running the P4M-specific app.
In the end I went for a used i-pad via the Amazon “renewed” programme- this model: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07NYS898H/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The i-pad was in a non-branded box and a third party charger, but other than that perfect- not a scratch, worked perfectly and set up on i-cloud without a hitch. It also turned out to be the version which accepts a SIM card (not sure if they all are or I got lucky). Quite a lot of i-pad for the money I thought.
Like I said, I’m an Android user, indeed I have a Tripltek for drone use- but I didn’t have any choice for the P4M, it’s iOS only; however I admit to being pleasantly surprised with the i-pad. The video feed and refresh rate with the P4M is excellent (using the P4M specific app tho so I have no idea what it would be like with the Fly app). It seems reasonably bright too.
(note: I don’t know much about i-pad specs other than this one was well within the “required hardware and operating system” requirement minimums for the P4M app).

Thank you GC, I’ve been considering an iPad mini but not a full sized one … more for me to think about! Thank you
