Tour of Britain - Stage 3 (Milton Keynes) - in the rain

The tour came through MK yesterday, straight past where I work so I headed to the park next door. I read the post in the drone discussion re whether peeps thought this was a good idea. So I checked for restrictions etc. and there were none. I obviously stayed well clear of participants - and audience! Was a smashing point of view to watch it from. I took off too early, being eager and the heavens opened. I did wonder but the Mini 4K literally shrugged it off - you can kind of see how hard it’s coming down in the opening shot. There was the TV chopper, but looked like it was at the usual limit of of about 500ft - and he was a long way above me for sure!

Nice one

Given the recent plethora of restrictions popping up all over the shop for the slightest reason, I’m pleasantly surprised they didn’t have one for this.

Me too tbh. I even took a copy of the drone code, the MK Parks Trust drone’s policy and my license with me! :innocent: Quite a few peeps came past me when I was setting up and every reaction was ‘Oh, that’s such a cool idea’ :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

When the opportunity presents itself, I go kerbside to watch a pass, mainly with the TDF though. I’ve watched the TOB when it came near my house a few years ago, keenly using the DSLR to capture the action, but this is as really good perspective! Quite a small peloton though, only 114 riders, compared to the big Tours of 180 odd. Couldn’t spot Geraint Thomas in the Melee though! Its his last professional race, before going into management at Ineos. Don’t know if you’ve seen the TDF circus that precedes the peloton. It’s really fun and part of the spectacle. It must be a nightmare in the planning stages in the UK, given the ridiculous number of vehicles on the road now. I guess thats why it sticks mainly to the same areas each year.

Well done. I liked them splitting at the last roundabout, then merging again.
