Twickenham Stadium

Managed to get tickets for Todays England v Wales Six Nations match, so thought I would see if I could find an appropriate place to get a quick photo of The Home of English Rugby.
Had a look on Drone Scene and found a good spot out side of the Fly Zone for the stadium, well so I thought.

Here is the Drone Scene map.

TOAL was the red cross in a housing estate, but when I attempted to take off I was blocked by DJI asking me to unlock the zone. Much cursing, setting up wifi hot spot on phone (mutter mutter, not come this far…mutter mutter !$*!!) went through the rigmarole and got the drone in the air.

From what I had read on here the Zones had been removed in the last firmware update?

Happy to plead stupidity or dam right ignorance on this but was unlocking the zone expected here?

Anyway…back to today…SWING LOW…hard luck Wales Fortress Twickenham once again repelled your attack (just)

It has indeed.

I flew a DJI drone in the Blackpool Airport FRZ a few days ago without needing to unlock anything.

Guessing either your drone, your app or your flysafe databases are not all at the latest versions.

This morning, I flew in the Coventry Airport FRZ (I have permission) and the RC2 popped up a message saying I was in an “advanced warnings zone” (I think that’s what it said).

I had to accept responsibility etc, clicked the button and away I went.
I flew in the same spot last week, and don’t remember seeing the warning then?

Just checked this morning and I have “new firmware available”

Currently rc = 02.00.0300, drone = 01.00.0300, app = 1.12.4

ran the update, now on rc =02.00.0500

Also saw just below the firmware there is fly safe data was on 01.00.01.29, updated to 01.00.01.33

So its not just a case of checking firmware, look at the fly safe update as well. Lesson learnt!

So now I need to validate this, I feel it my duty to update the site on my findings to see if the Zone alert does not appear.
If any kind person with tickets for England v Ireland would like to donate one, purely for research purposes…

You don’t need a ground entry ticket to fly there

Good photo tho worth the hassle

Thanks @RMB1 I am pleased with it, BUT there were so many other shots I would have liked to take.
I decided though before hand, as it was a match day with 81,000 people heading to the stadium, to do a straight up, 360 vid and as many photos from that position, then back down again.
Was in the air for just over 4 minutes, then off to the car park before all the roads are closed.
