Twyn-Y-Gaer Hillfort - Added to Castles and Fortifications in Powys, Wales

I have just added this to the map of places to fly your drone at Drone Scene:

Twn-y-Gaer Camp is an Iron Age hillfort. It is a strongly embanked and ditched enclosure occupying the summit of an isolated hill 427m above sea level. It is an elongated oval, roughly 226m by 84m, defined by a rampart with a ditch and counterscarp bank, except on the south where the hillslopes are at their steepest.

There is a single in-turned east-facing entrance. The interior is divided by two lines of east-facing ramparts and ditches, each with a central entrance.

On a clear day there are stunning views all around – the peaks of Pen-Y-Fan and Com Du, the Black Mountains, the River Usk, as well as a patchwork quilt of farmland that stretches towards mid_wales

The originator declared that this location was not inside a Flight Restriction Zone at the time of being flown on 10/04/2025. It remains the responsibility of any pilot to check for any changes before flying at the same location. Landowner permission may be required before taking off.
