Thanks
I was going to enquire if anyone had put together a ‘before & after’ type comparison table
As RID is coning, it should only be allowed to be picked up by authorised people the emergency services and air traffic control. There could also be an option to give a friend a code at a meet so they can see whats in the sky. Any ol karen in the street should not have this information. What are the going to do apart from report it to the police.
If your car is in the process of doing something wron, somone gives your reg plate to police and they take action if needed. Allow remote id to send a drone reg number. That is all they get. They pass it on to the police and the police can make a decision if they can be bothered.
However, if a karen or ken comes to have a brawl, the emergency services will have to come out and that will waste their time. The police are already low staffed so why give them nore work coming to assaults.
I’m honestly not worried or bothered about remote ID. I don’t fly in places where it would become a concern or where I shouldn’t be.
Tell that to the Karen who comes looking for you lol
I’ve yet to find a Karen out on the Solent were I spend a vast amount of my flying… ![]()
I very much hope it stays that way for you (although I do appreciate it is a bit different when you are mostly flying out over water).
In three-and-a-half years of occasional flying, I hadn’t encountered anyone who wasn’t just curious and interested. Sadly, all that changed this month after meeting a delightfully passive-aggressive individual who proceeded to tell me what the law was when they clearly didn’t have a clue.
I don’t really blame them for that last part as the CAA website is about as clear as mud but I was a bit disappointed with the general attitude and tone. Surely, one can object to something in a polite and respectful manner?
In any case, I guess my point is “past performance is not a guarantee of future results”. I didn’t think I was going to meet an unpleasant “anti-droner” until I did.
I am also very much not a fan of the “nothing to hide, nothing to fear” argument. It is a logical fallacy which is frequently used to chip away at everyone’s privacy rights.
ive tried getting ym C label for my mavic 3 but it wouldnt let me, just says there fully compliant etc ![]()
Hi can anyone definitely advise on if I need to buy an ID transmitter for my drones (Mavic platinum pro and Mavic Air 2) I have trawled the internet but the deeper I go the more confused I become!
I have obtained the ID from the CAA. but can find a way to enter into drones?
thx in advance Phil
as this is a legacy drone you wont need Remote ID till 1st Jan 2028
So don’t worry about it too much now as its likely that the switch on of RID on your Mavic Air 2 will be a firmware update and turned on when its needed.
From what I read the Air 2 will support it but not the platinum pro
Abig thanks to you, that makes it fair clearer.
Again many thanks
Moved your post, and replies, to the relevant pre-existing thread that has plenty to read on the matter. ![]()
Don’t forget, the new and improved Good 2 Go holds all the answers to these questions.
Check it out:
Just to clarify,
I can fly a C2 sub 4Kg drone with a minimum 5 meter separation distance so long as i keep it in slow mode? Similar the the EU regs i read about a couple of years ago?
Apologies if this is a repeat question, i just started browsing this thread.
Correct Nic.
5 metre horizontal distance is what it says, and slow speed mode is quoted as being <3 m/s, which my Mavic 4 Pro has had to be adjusted down to - it was default set to 5 m/s in that mode (C on the controller).
In re-checking the webpage referred to above, it has changed and this table has appeared.

I can get the c2 class mark fairly easily i think.
I bought the reqiired high altitude props ages ago.
That chart states <2kg without c2 mark for the 5m thing which is a tad confusing. If i get the c2 stickers, dji website already says its c2 class which column would my 4kg fit in?.
It’s a c2 class but above 2kg.
Edit. Are they splitting c2 class by weight?
Edit2. Or is that chart to be ignored if the class mark stickers are attached?
Basically, if your drone hasn’t got a class mark you’re going by the black box. If you’ve got a class mark you go by the grey box. So your drone, with a C2 marking, is either column 2 or column 3. What distinguishes which is the “What you must have” section.
If you’ve got an A2 CofC then your C2 drone is in column 2. If you’ve not got an A2 CofC then your C2 drone is in column 3.
Also, don’t forget that there’s a caveat to operating distances from uninvolved people that’s mentioned elsewhere on the CAA site, but not in that table:
This includes people in buildings and transport, including cars, lorries, trains, and boats.
So though you can fly as close as 5m to uninvolved people with slow mode enabled, you can’t fly over buildings unless you are certain that there’s nobody inside.
I much prefer documents that are clear and unambiguous, which these aren’t.
I interpret it as meaning no sticker, then <2kg. If there is a sticker then <4kg.

I do have the a2 so thats something
Column 2 and 3 both mention c2,
I want to be in column 2 but one interpretation is even tho its a c2 class it’s over 2kg which makes it column 3?
Edit
Not the weight?
I know what you mean ;p
