So I thought I was ahead of the game. I sold my Mini 3 Pro and, after demoing it to the new owner, I went through the following steps:
Remove IDs
Format internal memory
About: Reset all settings/Clear all data
Profile:
Device management: Value add - unbind
Account: remove device from account
Settings: Scroll down and logout
Forget WiFi/reset network settings
Reset to factory defaults
before handing the drone over and saying farewell.
However, when the new owner powered up at home, the RC was still accessing via my account. He nearly chose the “Delete account” option to try to fix things, but - fortunately for me! - decided it sounded a bit drastic after reading the warnings. He then found out where to log me out. He did pretty well, seeing as this was his first drone.
However, something still wasn’t right - when I powered up the RC2 for my Mini 4 Pro, it didn’t have the drone registered to it. I’m guessing something the new owner did upset things somehow. Anyway, it was easy enough to get the Mini 4 Pro recognised again and check that the Care Refresh was still valid.
So far, so good - although I’m puzzled as to why the RC was still logged into my account.
Just to be sure, I logged in to my DJI account on my PC and, weirdly, that is still showing that I have both the Mini 4 Pro and the Mini 3 Pro (when I do a Device Info Query at https://repair.dji.com/device/search?re=gb&lang=en). I’ve asked the new owner if he can see the Mini 3 Pro in his account but haven’t heard back yet.
This is far too difficult - and I thought I’d got everything covered. There should be a much easier way to transfer ownership.
Is there something I missed? Is there a way to remove the Mini 3 Pro using the DJI website? (Finally got to the questions!)
If memory serves me right as I only done this last week when I got my replacement drone, I used the DJI app on my phone ( not the DJI fly app ) the DJI store app where you can see your devices as here
Click on service go to the top click devices then it’ll give you the option to edit - press edit & remove the said device ( the one that’s no longer with you ) again this was the steps I took only last week to remove the drone from my account that is no longer with me, hope that makes sense.
Thanks - I’ve just installed the app and - following the steps you describe - there’s an option to send the device I no longer own to the bin. I’ll hold off on doing that until I’ve spoken with the new owner, but it certainly looks like it should work.
Really odd that the website via my PC doesn’t seem to offer a way to remove it.
Yes sorry I can’t comment on that as I’ve only ever used the app as it was( is convenient) but yes make sure everything is ok but that method definitely worked for me, hope you get it sorted & if you could kindly keep us updated as it may help others in the future, thank you
Ok, so the latest is that, as I mentioned earlier, my Mini 4 Pro appears to be correctly registered with the RC2 and shows that Care Refresh is valid. The purchaser tells me that the, now his, Mini 3 Pro is correctly registered to the RC and shows the remaining Care Refresh is valid. All well and good.
However, when I log in (app or on my PC) and check the Care Refresh status, I see both drones, while the purchaser says he can see the Mini 3 Pro as well - most bizarre!
I’m going to query this with DJI before using the app to delete the Mini 3 Pro from my account using the app (still appears to be no way to do it on the PC).
Thank you for keeping us updated, I’ve never had care refresh so I can’t comment on that but as far as I’m aware care refresh is bound to the devices serial number unless DJI have changed that but to the best of my knowledge I think this still stands but as you say check for peace of mind if you need to, Good luck.
And I do only see the Mini 4 Pro. The remaining question was, “Why do I see the Mini 4 Pro and the Mini 3 Pro in the Device Info Query screen?”. Quite a long phone call with DJI support got me the answer that this is as designed - you can see all the drones you’ve owned unless you delete them (and this only appears to be possible through the app, not the website).
While on the phone, the DJI rep also confirmed that all seemed correct with my account and the registration of the Mini 4 Pro, as was the new purchaser’s account and Mini 3 Pro registration (confirmed without revealing any specific info to me).
I think that closes this topic unless anyone has anything to add.
Yes care refresh follows the drone but it may still have the previous owners name on it. We bought a DJI mini 3 and had a recent situation where we had to renew after the renew period. We had to send in a video to show it was in good condition and they said that the account is with the drone but the details on file were with the previous owner on here.
