Unstable

A work colleague of mine has decided to enter the world of drone flying and bought a second-hand Mavic pro 1, he said he has calibrated the imu and put new props on it but he said when it is hovering it is dancing around all over the place, it also doesn’t fly in a straight line but drifts to one side. I have suggested refreshing the firmware but apart from that I’ve no idea what his problem could be although I haven’t actually seen his drone fly. Any suggestions please?

I’d get the log file (.DAT) from the drone for a long (as you can) hover, so you can examine the cause.

They don’t move about without a reason - and that’s the best method to find it.

Better than guessing and have him checking loads of things that are perfectly OK.

Cheers Dave good idea, I’ll pass it on to him.

Upload the file if he’d like me to paw over it. It does create a load of data!

Take a photo at the start of the hover. The log file records the point a photo is taken, which then makes it easy to find the point in the data to start looking at.

Zero wind is best. Gentle constant light wind ok.
Gusty wind makes it more difficult to analyse … depending on the cause.

Thanks Dave I will tell him. He’s on afters this week so not sure when he will do it. I will also recommend joining GADC to him. Cheers Dave. :+1:
