@Mads-Tech how are the Federal Communications Commission able to ban the sale of a motor that doesn’t have a communications chipset in it?

Is this not overreach of the department?

Trump is a narcissistic dictator - and will only be remembered as a verbally incoherent diplomatic cretin that has created a stain on America’s history.

I think the US is about to find out that they can’t build a drone from all-US made components

At best it will take several years for chip manufacturers to gearup to make flight controllers etc. - IF they think it would be a profitable thing to do - and even then they will be more expensive than imported ones

The ban is stupid.

Strongest theories behind it are:

  1. Money. American companies have lobbied hard for it and have paid a lot to various politicians (Stefanik, Trump Jr).
  2. Stupid Politics. Too many politicians believe the evil-China crap. If security were the real reason, our phones would be banned.

BTW, it has little to nothing to do with Trump being in office. It’s been percolating since well before he was elected.

Not too sure about that Jon - yes it was underway prior to Daddy Trumps arrival back on the scene but only picked up momentum after his arrival - and of course it has nothing at all to do with Trump Jnr being likely to make some very sizeable financial gains from the ban.
Remember - the current ban of all Chinese drone parts is completely separate from the DJI/Autel ban :+1:

This kind of has routes going back to the John S. McCain National Defence Authorisation Act (NDAA) 2019 when Chinese tech was restricted in federal systems. It would have been a catalyst for Chinese tech on the public market.
